I want a parachute cause it looks cool. But also, even though I won't be trapping 150mph for a while, I'd still like the piece of mind of a backup plan.
faith, all my suspension and brake system is new. i made sure all that was sorted before i looked at performance parts. i spent more on my brakes, suspension and tires than what i paid for the car.
I dont think you understand what I am getting at so I'll post it really simple-like.
Unless you are actually turboed and are over the 300hp mark, don't do this. Spend the effort and $100ish needed to complete this mod into something actually productive. If not suspension, then safety. If not safety, then fuel. If not fuel, then etc etc etc
I am probably going to do this because A) my coil is acting up from the poor tune i had prior. Why replace the stock coil at this point? B) Am turboed C) fully intend on being higher than 350hp very, very, very soon
My comments arent entirely directed toward you scoupe, but to others who believe doing this stupid lil mod makes there internet shlong bigger or something.
sorta like those who are like OMG I IMPORTED A COLD AIR INTAKE FROM KOREA #KDMLYFE
why spend the money on something NO ONE will care about and produces no real world benefit?
form follows function
EDIT
jon I understand your thoughts on the parachute. Please tell me you will make a rack that is easily removable and not drive around town with it like a tool. Thank you.

I'll be sure to submit a shop drawing to you for approval before I begin work.
Here you go newbs: http://spdispark.com/pages/frequentl...uestions-dwell
BTW, a couple sources reference the dwell on the Densos to be 2.1ms, while I found another source to state:
8V 6.3 ms
9V 5.3 ms
10V 4.4 ms
11V 3.8 ms
12V 3.2 ms
13V 2.7 ms
14V 2.4 ms
15V 2.2 ms
I'm going to leave it at 2.1ms to be on the safe side.

went to the junkyard today
for reference HONDA ones PROBABLY will not work. checked civic (id say 2004ish) and they WILL NOT fit inside of spark plug hole. Could just be that particular model. also appeared aftermarket so maybe oem might.
Checked a 02 toyota solara and same thing, wont fit in the spark plug tube and they are shorter. don't believe they will work.

Looking good Jon, thanks for the information. I'm running BKR6E11's on 30 PSI gapped at .022" and have no spark blowout issues. On my old setup (stock bottom end and compression) I had BKR7E11's (two steps colder from stock) on 25 PSI and had to gap them to .015 to prevent blowout. Not sure if its the lower compression or the slightly hotter plug (perhaps both) that is preventing the blowout issue. Thought I'd post up that information based on your COP discussion.

I suspect with 30psi, you're running a medium sized turbo? My Honda friends with 62mm turbos usually have to gap down significantly when running 30psi and putting down around 600whp. Once you get to 600-700whp, you need more power in the ignition department. You may be running into that problem soon with every increase in boost you make.
WARNING
COROLLA COILS ARENT LONG ENOUGH

So anyways, I'm burned out on this pos. Been finding excuses to do other "indoor" sh*t for days. I'll eventually get back to it. Most of my reasons are do to the 100 degree weather.
