Don't give up Jon! I've been having serious transmission issues (to add to your woes of what to expect in the future). I've broken the helical teeth off 5th gear three times and third gear once in the last two months (probably less than 400 miles total distance traveled). I am running a medium sized turbo (GT3071R .63 a/r exhaust housing). It's at it's limit at 30 PSI (top right of the compressor map, quite far from it's most efficient range).



Looking into a custom dog-box trans, realizing I'll have to put out a minimum of $5,000-8,000... YIKES.



Just thought I'd post up some of my own high HP problems, if I get any additional information regarding transmission options I'll post it up. Most companies have a minimum quantity for custom orders of around 10, but I know that is impossible. I was thinking shot-peen / cryo-treat, but feel like that is a band-aid.

I'm just full of excuses. But, they do exist. Home, family, boat, car issues, more car issues. I just haven't had free time to devote to it. However, it's very easy to get on the phone and throw money away at it. Here's my latest purchase:

tdonnell: I don't think it'll be an issue finding someone to make a custom trans. Just like the axles, it only takes cash, or credit. I plan to wait til the car is up and running before I drop the money on a trans. I'm sure other issues will come up before that. Plus, I still need the built head.

 

Ohhh great and how do you paid this axle??

 

T donnell, ,30 psi in 5th is asking for kaboom!!.. I won't even boost past 12 psi in 5th!, Ive seen beta trannys destroy 5th @ only 15 psi !. I My boost by gear keeps me safe lol...Btw, what gap are your plugs at,and what size are your injectors?

 

Which axles are these?

I was going to have DSS make some for me, but if there are some commercially available that's way better

 

I need those axles if they fit BETA 2, where to order them ?, count me in if anybody is arranging for DOGBOX GEARBOX as long as its within 3000-4000 USD

According to a guy from korea ,2002-2004 EFsonata (taxi version ) trans will hold 600 hp ,sold for 370 USD, not sure if it is true
