was reading the first post, and was wondering what do you like better, working on imports or the muscle cars? Ive started thinkin about gettin an 80s mustang or camaro to work on, but idk if its practical right now lol.

Well, I'm getting closer, but I'm running into some issues.

Firstly, the shifter is being a pain. I'm missing little nuts and bolts here and there, which is tedious to go run out and buy, and I'm trying to figure out what the hell to do to this alternator. I really dont' wanna go buy a new one but it's looking like my only recourse since enigo still hasn't gotten back to me about buying his.

Please please please, if anyone can shoot me some pics of their manual shifter bracket I'd greatly appreciate it!

^^To answer your Q hyunshark, I much prefer working on domestics. I used to have an 84 Z28 with a carbed 350.... Yeah, that thing was so much fun to work on.

Well, major hurdles today, got the shifter fixed up! A trip to Lowes, a few feet of flat aluminum, some bolts, a grinder, and patience was all that it took. The current setup is a little off and was more or less rigged into place just to be sure it actually worked, I'll be doing it up nice and proper on thursday with pics and all. Also, called up the salvage yard I got my tranny from and within an hour he mailed out the part that was missing, no questions asked, no charge. I love that yard!

The upstream o2 sensor is still stuck in the manifold, and I have no idea how i'm gonna extract it. I've already sheared off the metal with an o2 socket and an impact wrench, the thing doesn't have much left to lose. If I can just get it off, we'll be good. Either way, I'm gonna use it as an excuse to buy a header. If anyone's got one for sale, hit me up.

Anyone know where I can actually buy some MT-90? I can't find the stuff anywhere!

With the shifter in I'll be putting the interior back together soon, and hopefully driving it soon as well. I've been talking it over with some friends and we're working up a stereo build for it next.

easy. take the 20 some mm or whatever size it is wrench. tap the end repeatedly with a hammer. keep tapping left, it will come out.

Not so easy. If the thing is rounded off from an O2 sensor wrench, you're in for more work. First, let it soak in *penetrating oi* for a day or two. Not WD-40 not ATF, purpose-engineered penetrating oil. Tap the sensor gently with a metal hammer or big wrench every whenever-you-feel-like-it to help the oil work its way in to the threads.

Then, if you can get a wrench on the flats of the sensor, use a metal hammer or a BIG mallet and tappa-tappa (not BANG BANG) to try to get it loose. Failing that, you'll need to try either a heat wrench (torch) on the parts, or else a vise grip on the body of the sensor itself, but expect to lose the sensor if you use a vise grip wrench.

^ I would assume that that would be less effective than what he used, an O2 tool + impact wrench

Try spraying PB plaster where the O2 bolts on, tap it with a hammer a bit and leave it for a while

Even if you get new header, you still need that sensor. If you didnt' want to change the header, why were you trying to take it out in the first place?

YOU CAN BUY MT-90 at jegs.com they will ship and its not at a bad price i think its like 8ish a qt.

^^I was taking out the sensor because I've got a new one ready to go in of course!

The sensor itself is already destroyed from trying to get it off. I've been hitting it with PB Blaster since day one, and even a good set of vice grips are just taking metal off of the end of the sensor, yeah.

Tear off what you can from the sensor, then drill the thing out with an easy out.

If it's that bad, you are going to end up with trash in the manifold, I'd just get an aftermarket one or one from a junkyard now.

As for MT90, you can order it online in lots of places, but you usually get hit for a hazzardous materials charge making it expensive. I got mine at a local 4x4 store called Dessert Rat. I'd recommend looking at Redline's site and see who their dealers are near you or asking on a local car enthusiast site.

mine was stuck also when i went to my header. used a 7/8" box end wrench and it popped off no problems. open end will just round it off.
