Well it fits on the spline, but the retaining allen bolts and all the wiring for the horn are in two different positions. If I had the horn wiring from the old wheel it might work, but I don't, and I can't swap it over. I'll take some pics later today or tomorrow for you to see what I mean.

As for the TCU, I've got two computers floating up in there, I saw the other while I was working on it. I'll have to look again and figure out which is which, and probably take some pics for you.

An on a side note, WTF is up with this pedobear avatar? Who's been screwing around with the forums again?

It's April 1st, relax.

Do some searching, the location of the ECU is shown in several threads here. It's up above the interior fuse box on the drivers side, up high.

Alright, got more work done today as well as getting my flywheel in, thanks BlueEvil!

First off, here's a comparison pic of the two steering wheels. TC, you'll see what I mean now.

In response to RED ZMAN's post, here's a pic of the general area. This is looking up from the pedal area. There on the left you can see what I assume is my ECU, below are the plugs I unhooked from what I assume is the tranny control unit. It would make sense since the unit is right where the manual tranny control unit (aka the clutch pedal) goes. The unit I pulled out looks exactly like the transmission control unit in dddude55's post.

In other news, got my clutch pedal and master cylinder installed!
My secret weapon here was a dremel 45* angle adapter, allowing me the clearance I needed to make a good solid circular cut.

I got the holes drilled out really easily with a power drill and a 3/8ths bit. The welded on nut was a challenge at first, but I managed to fish up a longer bolt I had on hand with the same threads and give it the old soda-can wiggle until it broke free of it's welds.

Lastly, what is this connector? Looks like the clutch switch that makes up the neutral sensor safety system. I can't find a comparable connector floating around down there, is there one at all or am I going to have to bypass this? (IIRC, that's one of the modifications that's made to the harness....)

A very satisfying parting shot of the clutch pedal assembly installed:

Yup, the one with the big black harness is the ECU.

Okay, so I pulled the TCU then. Now that the auto is out, is there any need to keep it? I doubt it, but I'd like to be sure.

there sould be two conectors on the pedal, one for clutch depression saftey swith and one for cruise. i think, if i remember correctly, you have to tap into the brake wiring for cruise to work properly.

and yes you removed you TCU, i guess you would call it, because there is still a trans computer behind the dash by the glove box. which you dont have to change acorrding to many DIY swaps.

Alright, alright, it's time for an update.

First off, finally got the shifter cables in there. Cutting was a pain, but I opted to put it in the stock manual location rather than bore out the automatic slot. Here's a few pics of the progress.

A nice shot of the two side-by side from the inside of the car.

A shot from the outside. You can see where I just filled the hole in the auto bracket with RTV, I figured it was the easiest way.

Now, on to more exciting work! I got all of my brake parts installed today. Brand new pads, rotors, and goodridge SS line setup on all four wheels! At this point, the only brake components that aren't getting replaced are the booster and master cylinder. Hell, even the pedal got changed out.

Yeah, ignore the pink on the back of the pads, just anti-rattle compound, it wears off pretty quick once you start driving.

welcome to another car wizard! all you need is the hat to go with it. great job!

i was also wondering about the TCU, because i've got a 5-speed swap done and i have a P1613 code, wondering if the cruise control will work with the auto TCU left in there.

looks great. never thought you'd be owning a tiburon too. once you are finished, it will prove itself smile.gif

If this is the box near the firewall between the blower and the a/c ducting, it also provides cruise control. However, it will not cause any problems to remove it.
