Tomorrow I'm going to check for fitment of a new turbo........the Precision 6062. Hopefully I'll have enough room for it with my current manifold.

Getting that boost itch in my junk. Maybe I'll step up the game to the 6266. Same price and tech as the 6062. Lag increase wouldn't be noticeable. Much more room to grow.

Lol, once you get on the boost you just want more and more, it's a hardcore addiction with no cure :-P
So really your playing the garett vs precision game :-) The 6266 sure has a lot of puff but the spool times going to suffer on a 2.0L. In an ideal world you want something that has fully spooled by 4000rpm then you have a 3000rpm powerband if the turbo can maintain boost until a 7000rpm redline.

There's no ideal situation in racing, there's just the reality of physics. Either I'm going to spool around 3krpm and stick to a 500hp turbo, or go big with the 6266 and shoot for 700-800hp. This turbo has been known to hit around 4.5krpm on 2.0L Evo's, and spools just fine on my buddys 10sec 1.6L hatch, so it should be ok with my setup. Once I build the head, I'll let it rev up to 7.5k or so.
Fair play, well drag racings a whole different game and I would love to see a 800hp hyundai :-D
Would you need just valves and springs to rev to 7500rpm safely? I guess what you lose on the low end can be gained on the top end if you can maintain power right to the redline.
What would you need to rev to 9k? I guess piston speed would be the biggest issue but I've seen a few Korean race cars rev that high and wondered what kind of work would be required

I ended up going with the 6266 and journal bearing.

I did quite a bit of research and found some comparison dynos of the Gen 1 and newer Gen 2's. They found very little improvement on spooling and power even though Precision claims more. When I met with my tuner, he said the same thing, so that made up my mind. It just wasn't worth the extra $600 to go with a Gen 2.
See comparison results here: http://www.spracingforum.com/forums/...nd-Performance
This turbo will lag, but only 500rpm more than my 60-1 which spooled great both on the track from a dig and on the street in roll racing. In drag racing, I will have plenty of top end rpm to keep it going, plus antilag to get it going from a stop.
To rev to 7500, I would just do Crower 4g63 springs. But, that is the cheap way to go and may not be highly reliable at these power levels. I've invested quite a bit into this build so I'm seriously contemplating going with a full Ferrea assembly soon.

I've been keeping up with this guy's build on honda-tech and facebook. His car is amazing to watch and I like seeing what he does to the car to put the power down as he makes some pretty impressive kills against modified GTR's, Lambos, Ferrari's etc. Just do a search on Gringotegra and you'll find a ton more information. Makes me want to hit up TX2K as well.

I thought this was a pretty cool vid as well of a 700hp Prelude:

Turbo arrived at Majestic today. Waiting for them to tear it apart and let me know the damage.
In the meantime, I've been working on another project in cad. If you didn't know, I had a set of APE bars long ago but sold them cause I was no longer interested in the Tib and couldn't get around to installing them. Well, I'm building a set that is MUCH beefier and with some improvements. I'm not really worried about the added weight since it's in front of the front tires and down low, so should help with traction.
In theory, I could produce these if the demand was there. However, all the parts added up quickly and they'd cost about what Full Race does, approximately $300-350. So I'm not expecting people to jump on that wagon.
if you make these I will buy them good idea

I intend to install Ferrea hardware at a later date, but until then, I'm swapping in some Crower springs.
