Haha I think its ok where it is.. theres like an inch and a half of clearance between the downpipe and alt.. should be ok .. hopefully lol

Nice build, gonna be awesome when its done.

You can just throw some heatwrap on the DP just for insurance and peace of mind fing02.gif cheap enough to do

Didnt see it in the thread, how much boost are you planning on running?

Yeah we might end up doin that just to be safe!

Well for now its just going to run at whatever the wastegate is set at.. and were not sure exactly what that is.. but ide like to run around 10 psi.. i think thats about as high as u can go safely on the stock motor with the compression as high as it is..

little does she know, we are actually going to be running 20 psi, and see what these tiburons can do haha.

just kidding.

i was thinking 7-12 psi. Until we get to a dyno, then we can dial it in safely.

i still dont understand you rc guys/ gals...why such a big turbo just to run 12psi? a gt28 or a tdo5-16g would be perfect...both would spool faster and fit in the location! the XD guys (like myself) have been using the 16g and t28 for quite sometime.

and a good tune you would be suprised what the beta can handle.

looks pretty good!!

how you plan on running the oil return with those fittings? looks like you will need a 90 on the pan.

is a pretty big turbo for 12psi, but im a fan of lag, and a bigger turbo will have a nicer top end pull, which is what i like.

nice touch on the IC mounting, looks OEM.

DP is further away from the alt than i expected, but then again, you have a custom manifold. should be able to wrap the DP and not have any alternator issues.

you can run like 14-16psi on a stock motor with good tuning as long as the motor is in good condition.

Its not so much the size of the turbo but the CFM rating. You should be fine at 12psi but I HIGHLY recommend you tune on a loaded dyno. Turbos with high CFM ratings tend to grenade motors at low throttle and high load, for example going up a hill and still in closed loop. Do a good job tuning though and you will be fine.

I think that turbo will be fine.. it will spool early enuf for me... Luc has a monster turbo on his civic and it still doesnt spool as late as i thought it would.

The drain line is already run on those fittings u see in the pic. It has lots of clearance from the downpipe, but its probly gonna rub on the intercooler pipe a bit.. which we can either wrap or just put a coupler on it to keep the metals from rubbing together.

I wasnt really sure how much PSI we could run safely.. it would be awesome to be able to run 15 psi.. My motor has 179XXX KMs on it.. and compression test was 210 on each cylinder. Its never really been abused all that much.. my clutch had been slipping for a while now.. lol

Whatabout the trannys in these cars? are they tough? ive heard some horror stories about the trannys in the 03-up tibs .. but not too much about these ones

As long as your watching things like AFR and EGT you should be fine at 15psi.

I have an 03 2.0L Tib with the 5spd and have had zero issues. This is at 22psi and 370 whp and multitude of dyno and track days. From what I understand they are very similar to the Beta1 tranny with a slight difference being the gear ratios. At 12-15psi you should have zero issues. I would recommend using Redline MT90 Tranny oil though.

are you guys recirculating the bov? She has a greddy style one that is capable of recirc..so im wondering if we should do it.

im thinking were going to have issues between shifts, i might be able to account for some of it in the fic software, but probably not.

Also the turbo isnt a true t3/to4e 57trim turbo.
the compressor wheel isn't very large, and the ar on the exhaust housing is moderately sized at best for a 2.0 liter.

My car is a 1.6 liter, i have a 76 mm compressor on my gt30, and a 0.63 ar exhaust. The turbo doesn't surge and it sees full boost by 4400rpm. I realize were talking about two different turbo's but anyways tongue.gif
A gt28r would have been good for her or a gt28rs or gt2871r, or something like that but she didnt have 1500$ budget for a turbo. I think she'll be happy with it..i expect it to hit full boost around 4200 rpm, and with these turbos it comes on hard, to give you that kick in the pants feeling haha..im sure she'll like it.
