Trust me I have spent way too much on everything, all new internals cost a lot. Sometimes I wish I would have built a Honda with the amount I spent I could have built 2 maybe 3 but then again it would still be a Honda

Nate is right.

I think a lot of you do not know exactly what it means to when you go to aftermarket low comp pistons compared to a plate.

It is not a band aid. Stock internals can handle max 350whp with a decomp plate all day long. Anymore, and the reliability of the pistons rods bears etc come in play. Not the actual compression. Unless you plan for big numbers. Anything over 325whp, than rebuild the motor.

When something throws off the design of how the combustion chamber is designed to work, and it makes it more inefficient, in exchange for lower compression, I'd call it a bandaid.

Its not a bad option, but its not wonderful.

Decomp plate will hold a certain amount of hp with no problems.

Pistons rods etc will also hold a certain amount of hp.

Where do the band aids end tongue.gif

I'd consider it a 'cheat' not a band aid.

I'd consider it a band aid if someone was running 400whp on a decomp plate. Might last for a bit, not much tho.

I'll be running a Decomp. plate with my new turbo kit. I pretty sure you can get o-ring plates for a better seal.

Here's a pic of a Decomp. Plate.

If your talking about that one above, it's from Performance Styling Centre, hence the watermark in the bottom right. I've only heard of O-ring'd for other cars, not for ours unfortunately, could always get one made

Oh okay, thanks I didn't notice the watermark. I thought you snapped that picture on your carpet lol.

Are you planning on only using one OEM gasket with it?

Yeah, just going to sandwich the plate with two OEM's. Bretton from PSC has seen a few Turbo'd Rd's and other Hyundai's and it works a treat.

and it makes the combustion chamber more inefficient and disrupts airflow

Thats what makes it a band-aid.
