you dont need a 44mm gate. the 38mm is PLENTY fine.

and you shouldn't have blown your seals yet, even at that pressure.

i would just run it off the head, with a restrictor and use a filter.

again, re route your pcv T and stuff, and that might help. im telling ya. from when i had it routed with the T (oil was oozing, leaking from seals on turbo) to no T (no more oil leaking from seals) it was like flipping a switch.

Trust me, the 38 is not fine, think about it, I am trying to run all that excess exhaust gas through a 1.5" pipe. I have talked to multiple knowledgable turbo guys around here and they agree. Hopefully after I install it I can prove that I am right by taking her to redline at WOT with no more boost than 10 PSI. I already ordered the 44 and got a 10 psi spring. I just welded the adaper fitting from the head to the 3 an line shut and drilled a .060" hole in it with a chamfered edge. Made my own restrictor for free. I am hoping that restrictor helps with the oil consumption at idle.

Might get a filter for it, I guess I can get an 1/8" npt male to female with a filter in it and put that between my head and he adapter fitting.

I will have to put a vaccum distribution block off my IM and run all these lines to it.

either you can get the filter and put inline or you can get the oil filter adapter plate and run your line with the restrictor from there.

Problem is I can't find them anywhere! The filters that is, like I stated before I made my own restrictor.

I need one that is 1/8" npt.

Any links because I have done some searching and come up with nothing? sad.gif

As far as the PCV, I will route it through a catch can and then to the IM, the valve cover vent I will route straight and to the breather filter.

I think that will work ok right?

if you just need a restrictor, screw a little set screw in your pipe to AN adaptor, then drill a little 0.045 to 0.060'' hole in it

for the filters i've got them, but i'm a bit far away 02.gif

^^^I welded my an adapter shut, then drilled a .062" hole and chamfered the edge to it so oil flows well.

As for the filter, I ended up ordering this: http://store.forcedperformance.net/merchan...;Category_Code=

Thanks tanc for pointing me in the right direction and convincing me to get an inline filter!

I got the black one with the .030" hole. Seems kind of small but I was told the GT series needs only drips of oil. Makes sense to me seeing that the water does all the cooling. With that filter, all I need to do is buy a 1/8" npt to 4 an adapter, then a 3an to 4an line and run that from my turbo to my filter, and thread the filter onto the adapter coming off the head.

I am going to drive the car today with my homemade .062" restrictor and see how the smoking at idle is.

Thanks guys.

I'm a huge fan of proof instead of internet conjecture, even from knowledgable turbo guys. You might need a 44 mm wastegate, but you need to optimize the spark timing BEFORE you conclude this! Now that you already have the gate, you will never know which issue you solved (bona fide undersized gate, insufficient spark timing or incorrect exhaust cam setup).

tdonnell - Just to give you a warm fuzzy, I doubt your oil seals are bad. Tommy had the same issue, he put the restrictor in and it solved the issue. Being the genius Tommy is, he plumbed his aftermarket oil pressure sensor into the turbo line downstream of the restrictor. IIRC (correct me if I'm wrong, Tommy) he sees a max of 25 psi, and his is tapped off his block. Tommy has journal bearings.

Interesting, I need to go out and look at the oil line setup in my car. I know I am going to need an inline filter.

How easy would you be able to find replacement filters for that?

Would it be better to buy something from Earls, like this?

With this fitting.
