i dunno. it's wrong to say their parts cost more. theirs cost way less than ours do because you can pick up any magazine from any supermarket and get dozens of selections. they have a big competition. i see full cat-back exhausts for like $200! and good ones too! like the SS braided brake lines for them are like $50 and ours are double. my friend, with a turbocharged civic, spend $5k on the whole thing. that includd dropping the car, rims w/ tires (he got all four for $400), turbo kit with intercooler, full exhaust, and sound system. the only saving factor is he installed everything himself. but $5000 and he got a 10 second civic. it didn't look too bad either.
anyways... i really want the manual. it's much faster getting from point A to B... and if you really need the gear you can choose it. while driving with Manual, you can pick a spot in between cars like if you want to make a turn and feel like cutting off another car just because you can then you can be in that spot within seconds with the extra torque. but with automatic, there's no way you can choose a spot and pull up to it in time. but what can ya do...

Seriously now...$3500 for a LevelTen torque converter?
The listed price is $460.?? for the tranny. With this in mind, does that mean it is a $2500 install or am I wrong?
**EDIT**
I can't help but feel your estimations with the automatic with every possible N/A mod AND nitrous is a bit slow. I believe there is a member on the boards who has ATX and is running on a dry kit who is in the high 14's. Chances are he doesn't have every possible N/A mod either...that being i/h/e/im/c/wr PLUS nitrous?

Think some of you seem to think that there is no "power" button on our autos.
LOL
okay seriously, the automatic tranny is'nt as bad as some of you think.
If I need to get serious torque going so I can pass another car, Its the same as
standard, It downshifts after you've WOT and have the power ETC button on.
How much faster is it really? 1 sec ? - not much to be saying "auto's suck".
Alot of times it pays to be auto. "the McIntrye" Turbo Tib will prove that wink1.gif (Front engine - 309HP Rear engine - 317HP )AUTO!
Go AUTO!! LOL
10.96 sec. 1/4 track beat that, not bad for a crappy automatic huh?

dude, there's no way you're telling me honda parts are just as cheap as parts for our cars. nearly everything we buy has to be imported straight from korea because there's hardly any US support for RD tibs....you could probably get civic parts at a supermarket, they're CHEAP, and they're EVERYWHERE; like a lot of examples in the posts above me have shown. anyway that's way off-topic, i shouldn't have even brought it up.
.......this again? i will restate.. a 200hp auto is easier because you dont have to S H I F T. i never mentioned launch techniques at all..i only stated that with an automatic transmission you do not have to worry about shift points (or shifting at all for that matter), which makes the race a little easier for you.
automatic = no shifting, simple.
it's like you're trying to flame me and all i am saying is that an ATX is a little easier because you don't have to shift.

First off what is this 'power ETC' button everyone keeps referring to? That is my first question. Are you talking about the Overdrive on/off button located on the auto shift knob?
I agree with you. There's nothing like having a computer shift for you, although this takes the sportiness out of this coupe, or any sports coupe for that matter. Manual isn't significantly faster, this also is agreed on.
Is there a link for this McIntrye Turbo Tib, x7xstring? Two engines? I've seen a Tibby (AUTO!!) on Modifiedcars.com and it has some sort of electronic turbo on it and it's 0-60 time is still about 8.0 seconds. I'm sure CAI/headers will knock me down close to that.
x7, I took a look at your mods...have you felt any noticeable gains from them? Would you suggest that it's worth modding them on? A lot of people say that modding autos is pointless.
Last question is do you think my mods will be more effective after I install the torque converter? I want one of the fastest auto N/A RD Tibs!

No, it is on the shifter base - it say's "Power" - "Normal".
With the button switched to "power" it will allow you to shift at redline @ Wide Open Throttle!

Is there a link? ,... No, I found it threw other people, it might still be on Kazaa or any other P2P sharing program.

Then they are ignorant wink1.gif, why wouldn't you want to get the most out of your car? Hell yeah i've noticed the difference (I should considering how much money i've payed out!! LOL) a C.A.I was the most noticable difference by far. dont forget about a good suspension though! you'll need that if you want to be fast wink1.gif
I am still debating going Turbo, im unsure now because I have a high milage engine, and a new baby on the way, so those plans are still up in the air, ... Go Turbo, forget N/A If you want my advice smile.gif

Lol the last question actually was up for grabs by anyone.;P
My question though for you, muh man is if you installed the CAI or exhaust first? I'm betting that CAI was your first mod. The gains were definitely noticeable, I can't see how my car would perform without it.

I think I know who you are talking about and he's running about 75 shot of nitrous. I said some nitrous, not 75 shot. I personally would not put 75 shot on auto tranny, but it's just me.
Now look at it this way. With I/H/E/P/IM/BBTB/Flywheel I will be in mid 14s. Dang, I already overrun your auto. Now add nitrous and dang, I'm in 13s. Auto won't be able to get there.... and auto running 14s with nitrous and such will not last long IMO.

between a second and second a half. My car is a second slower than s2000. Does my car such performance wise comparing to s2000? yes!
I bet you they would have used manual tranny if they could. There is just no way in hell they would be able to make it work/shift at the same time because of two engines.
Also, when we start talking about huge amount of power and very fast cars, auto trannies that cost thousand of dollars must be used because racers won't be able to shift fast enough by themselves, but our cars are nowhere close to the muscle cars smile.gif

Shifting manual is not hard, so having auto does not make it simples because if you know how to drive manual, you are a computer and you shift. But, I will stop arguing with you because you obviously are not a pro at driving manual and think that autos are easier. I was the same way back in the days. And I'm not flaming ya man. Just disagreeing with you. Am I allowed to?
I'm still going to stay with my opinion about auto being a lot slower than manual. Have both transmissions and prefer my 5sp over my auto 99% of the time. The 1% is when I'm very lazy and tired.

Unfortunately I have an auto... Not by choice. Just the luck of the draw for the circumstances by which I received my car. This fall/late summer I plan on going with cheap e-bay headers, short ram air (I have a ram hood) and exhaust. Next year, some more cosmetic mods (vertical door kit, neons, stereo) and the following year adding the extreme turbo kit and airram intake. I'll run that set-up for a couple years while I build by race engine and when I put that baby in I'll swap out to a manual. That way I have a gradual increase of power and can handle the beast. For one, I don't have 10K to drop into my tibby up front. For two, I can imagine how insane it would be to go from 140hp to 350hp.
This way it will be more like 140hp to 155hp to 220hp to 350hp plus NOS. Obviously by this point I plan on having the NEW 2008 or 2009 tib and this will be strictly a race/show/cruising car. Just hope it all works out like I plan! tongue.gif
