if you really want to keep the auto, just turbo it dawg. our trannys can handle boost, so don't worry there (plus look at it this way, if it did blow up THEN do the manual swap..) i'd rather spend $4k on a turbo set up to get 200hp out of an auto than $4k on an N/A setup to get 170hp out of an auto and have a manual with nothing but an intake kick your ass.

what these guys are trying to tell us, is that YES mod-for-mod auto vs manual will stay the same, BUT it's the INITIAL difference (advantage..) that manuals have over autos that makes autos suck, because it will take you i/h/e just to keep up with a 5 speed (if that guy can drive like hell..), and if you give i/h/e to that 5 speed then you're right back where you started.
however, if you boost your auto you shouldn't have problems keeping up with an n/a 5 sp.
imo it's not that bad for us, because betas are so non-responsive to bolt-ons that you WILL want to turbo just to have a decently fast car, and the fact that our autos can handle boost (so far tested up to 14psi by speed factor), we can keep up with any b**** who has a manual and a nice n/a setup. plus we can be a shitty driver and not have to worry about shifting lol.gif

If you will be pushing over 200whp you will need to learn how to drive your car. It's not as easy as you think man.

i suppose it is RESPONSIVE, but comparitively to civics, integras, etc..not really. plus we have to spend more money, you can get SI headers on ebay for like $45--where as we have to spend over $150.
and i didn't mean didn't know how to drive, just said you would not have to worry about shifting.

Civics will give the same numbers for the same mods.
$49 will perform like a $49 header. I've seen very expensive products for those cars.

This sounds like you meant you don't have to be a good driver. If you are not a good driver you will not be able to put the power down to the ground.

anyway, what i MEANT by that statement was you won't have to worry about shifting. i think anyone will agree that that amount of power in an auto is a LITTLE EASIER to drive than a manual.
well, their cheap headers are $45, ours are $150.
their 'expensive' headers are $400, ours are $700.
either way, they get way more bang for the buck, and more response. it's just the crappy support we get. not bashing anyone or the tib, but it is pretty much a fact.
anyway, the whole reason we're comparing civics/tibs in this thread now is that i said our betas are not all that responsive (COMPARITIVELY to the 'opponents') to bolt-ons, and its THAT reason why autos don't have it that bad because you will want to turbo anyway, its WAY more cost-effective for an auto.

Putting down 200whp with auto will be just as hard, if not harder, as putting it down with manual. You ever driven car with auto tranny that has over 200hp and no traction control? Those things are impossible to launch!!! You need to work on launches just as hard as someone else with manual. With manual you have advantage of feathering/slipping the clutch and an advantage of choosing shifting points, with auto you have no advantages except that you don't have to shift, but shifting is nothing man. I shift my manual faster than any auto tib.

My main reason for man over auto is because of the shift points, it will downshift on me just for 6000 to 6500 rpms and it wastes more time than just staying the gear above it :angry: I didnt know anything about cars when I bought the Tib other than it handeled good and looked good to, it was against a mustang v6, didnt have even close to the same handeling B)
Honda's parts are as expensive or more expensive than ours. Those cheap eBay headers practically fall apart a few hundred miles after being bought, and have horrible welds. Honda has a larger aftermarket, but thats because there are more people that own them to support it. As there is so much demand, prices don't go down much even though there are so many competitors. Same for Eclipses... high-end exhausts (GReddy for instance) cost $600.
Going to Level10 for a torque convertor isn't an intelligent route. Your going to pay $3500 to get the car somewhat close to a manual. Why do that, when you can swap to a manual for $1500-2000 paying top dollar for labor?
