i've posted my tib was at 125. My roommate had an acura rsx type s and we are the stupidest 2 people you'll prob ever meet!!! (extremly weel drivers though) anyways we do a lot of high speed runs (used too, not after that 93 ticket) and one time we just put it to the floor and he staied next to me when i hit my gov. i asked him what we were at and he said about 125, he asked if i wanted some candy , i said yea, since i couldnt go any faster we pulled as close as possible and started handing candy and drinks back and fourth, it was fun, but TOTALLY FCUKING STUPID DO NOT DO THIS EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!

Default Re: RWD Tibs???

Last weekend, me and 2 of my buddies decided to take a detour back to the house from the car meet.
1 of my buddies has a brand new vw gti 1.8T , the other had a old crx with a few mods done, and me with my tib with just exhuast and custom "ram air" intake that i got done fabricating for the car meet.

We were all at a intercection that leads from a 2 lane "at the intercection"
to a 1 lane further down the straight stretch that goes for about 2 miles.

I had them both from the launch and all the way until i hit 3rd, then the gti pulled a nose on me right before we hit the merge to 1 lane . so i let him have the lead (we were both a few lengths in front of the crx tongue.gif

Anyways, i stayed on my friends bumper in his gti all the way down the stretch, the only time it pulled any was right after id shift from 3-4 and 4-5 it would inch away for a sec until my rpms would get up there then he would just keep the same distance.

well , my speedo was hovering around 130-135 range didnt seem like it didnt have anything left , but was not hitting the govener ? rpms were around 5k-5500. When we got back to the house i asked him how fast he was going and he sayed he was pushing 145! ( he sayed his car didnt really seem like it had anything left either )
The funny thing is that i was really close to his bumber and he was not pulling away when we were around maxed out.

I talked to my friend at disc. tire and he said that with my tire size i should be around 12-15 mph faster then what my speedo reads.
stock tire -195/55/15

New tire-225/45/17

conclusion- our tibs can make a fool out of a turbo'd gti with verry minor upgrades, we can blow the doors off of honduh's , and with the tire size i have our cars are capable of 140+ with minor crap.(regardless what the crap ass speedo says)

If you were really close to his bumper (on the GTI) I can believe you went faster than what the Tib ordinarly tops out at... simply because you were drafting behind him and letting his car push the air out of the way.
