It can be safe to drag a stock tiburon to 115. Even though it goes to 130, don't push it.

This is off topic, but you say it goes to 130. Do the Tibs have a governor that stops them at 130? or do they blow up at 130? LOL. I've never taken mine that fast and don't want to but it would be nice to know smile.gif

/\ you hit redline aka fuel cutoff/\

Ill go up to speed limit with somebody, idc what you call it because its just semantics, but i dont go over that. And i want to see the law about excessive acceleration, because thats BS. He has to prove you were driving recklessly, which means you lost control of the car, aka breaking traction/swerving/crossing lane/etc, aka illegal.

On the roads around here there are nice flat, open, stretches that you can street race, but i dont. i marked off a quarter mile and ill practice my launching and shifting; but thats it.

I don't get that whole German Shepherd thing.

Use use controls and take measures to prevent problems, and use dicipline with your car like the dogs in the first picture, or you'll end up like cat #2.

It's not about your skills as a driver, its the things you don't think about, like road conditions, other cars, other people, kids, weather or visibility.

If you HAVE to street race or push it to the limit, go to the middle of no-where and have someone else watch to make sure there's no problems. It's still illegal, but you won't hurt anyone but yourself.

um i've wrecked my car before but it think it all just comes down to people who

A. cant drive (which includes people who try to push their car to hard)

B. people who dont use their brain to think about the conditions that their in.

and for the record rare rolla everyone knows that m3's will flip over if u hit a pack of twizzlers in the road, those cars are just prone to flipping. anyone i've ever known who had an m3 rolled their car.

tibs just stick to the road like glue, we just allways get hit in the front

If you must know optimo. I have an E36 chassis bmw.. and even stock (with upgraded rims and tyres) on worn out suspension, it will outhandle my old tib. As for people rolling their M3s.. you have to consider the speed those cars were probably traveling at. The M3 is a seriously quick car, just under the Porsche 911 in it's performance envelope. Chances are, those guys you knew who rolled their M3s were probably well over twice the speed into those corners that you or I would take in a tib.

Also, the Tib is prone to understeer.. all front wheel drive cars are. The BMWs like to go into snap oversteer if you let off of the throttle even a little bit while in a hard corner. That is probably what your buddies did. they entered a corner too "hot" and paniced, letting off of the gas, and suddenly finding themselves sideways going off of the road.

As for the original topic. NOBODY puts a gun to your head and forces you to street race. IMHO anybody who gets caught or killed street racing gets what they deserve. I have read the posts, and people not aggreeing how racing to the speed limit can be racing. Remember, tiburons are not exactly high horsepower cars (with a few exceptions) AND they are front wheel drive. Except for torque steer, they generally go straight when you mash the pedal and go. Other cars, rear wheel drive cars, like the M3, Mustang, Firebird, corvette, Porsche, and the like.. are high horsepower rear wheel drive cars. With traction control off (and nobody races with it on) and the rear wheels spinning due to a lack of traction, those cars can and WILL do a donut where they sit.. and if they catch traction facing a building, parked car, or a pedestrian, they will take off in that direction and hit it.

Racing is racing, take it someplace safe where you are not going to hit anything and there is help nearby in case you do screw up badly

18. ABSOLUTELY no street racing posts. It is an extremely immature act and can easily destroy not only the lives of people involved, but innocent people as well. Don't do it, don't make references to it, and don't make up bogus posts that are covers for street racing. Our staff is composed of mostly certified geniuses(sans REDZ) and will see through your lies. It is always good to post up some details about the race as well; details that you can only get at a legal race.

I just wanted to share something with you all. I am 30 years old and joined this forum approx. 3 months or so ago. I am here today posting this and am a miracle of God to be doing so. I was just in an accident yesterday, and it was a really bad one for me; I should not have survived...period. I was speeding and the Eclipse that was coming from behind me was going even faster. He got so close to my bumper that I couldn't see his lights or license plate. All I could see was his steering wheel and him. I decided to change lanes to let him pass if he was that intent on going that fast. I tried to change lanes to allow him to pass, but he changed lanes with me behind me at the same time (I found out later that he had decided to pass me) and at that same moment I was on a quick curve and a truck pulled out in front of us from an adjoining street into my lane.

I wasn't sure what to do. If I slowed down fast and still tried to hold myself on the curve, the Eclipse behind me would rear end me and it would be bad. If I tried to change lanes again on the curve, the guy behind me might try to change lanes to pass again (since we did the "which way are you going" thing already once.) and this could cause him to clip me. If I kept going straight I would hit the guy in front. Either way, something bad was going to happen and many people could get hurt. So I did the only thing that was left to do that might just save everyone else from getting hurt--except me of course.

I swerved and took the curb, deciding to bite the bullet. I figured that I shouldn't have been speeding anyway. Had I been going the speed, the guy in the Eclipse could have passed me easier and speed away all crazier than even myself, or maybe I could have had more time to react and stay in control. So I figured if I take the curb at least this way I will hit an open space with no people and maybe the Eclipse will still pass by unharmed, the truck pulling out in front would be fine, and cars behind us wouldn't hit the accident in front.

This all happened in seconds mind you. So I hit the curb and what happened after that was the most scariest experience of my life. I lost total control and my car flipped and rolled over 3 times on the dirt and off the road. All my windows busted out except the driver window. On one of the rolls, when I was upside down, my head hit the ground (because the sunroof blew out too) before turning back over again. When my car finally stopped, I was dizzy, disoriented, and in shock. My radio was still playing my Christian radio station.

I finally was able to get out, even though people kept trying to keep me still. I was later told that during my disorientation that I was walking around the car trying to pick up the pieces and attempting to put them back on my car. After the Ambulance people checked me out, they told me that I was lucky because they never see anyone walk away from something like that. They said that the way my car flipped and the way it was smashed--I should have died. So far I have a very bad headache; my brain took a shaking. My shoulders and small of my back hurt alot too as well as my neck. I am about to go to the doctor right now to get an MRI, CAT scan, and X-rays.

I just wanted to share this with everyone here because I KNOW there has to be some of you who think that speeding or racing around in the city is cool---thats a bunch of B.S. Being a Christian and serving in the ministry as well as being 30 years old, I should have known better than to be going so fast as I always did. I feel that God has given me a second chance to fulfill the purpose I have in this life. because I survived, I can still be a father to my 7 and 6 year old sons. I can still be a husband to my wife of 10 years. I can still serve God in my church and have a chance to not only be a good example in a few areas, but some new ones as well, such as safe driving. I thought I had such great control over myelf while I was in my car and my overconfidence almost cost me my life. I never thought that the circumstances just might not care about how much control I had.

Thank God that I am only bruised (pending doctor exam) and the other guy only spun out and flipped on his side, but was uninjured and crawled out from the top door. No one else was involved in the accident or got hurt. So far I got it the worst. When I walked over to the guy in from the Eclipse, he hung his head down and apoligized for being on my bumper like that, but I just told him, that I was speeding too and was just as reckless whether he did that or not.

Below is a link to show what my Tib looks like as of yesterday around 8:30am, El Paso time.

Please think twice before you speed or street race. It's more than just about you. I saw a signature here on the forums once that said, "Race on the track, never on the street." that was a very wise comment. I know I might get a little crap about this, but thats fine, I was wrong.

glad to hear you made it out mostly unscathed. this is the exact reason why we are so strict about it here. by denouncing it so much we hope everyone just realizes that it simply isnt worth it.

Out of curiousity, did you signal when you switched lanes? I take it you were wearing a seat belt otherwise you probably would have been done for.

God kept you safe, which is what counts, and you probably saved the lives of the Eclipse driver and/or truck driver.
