People That Street Race On This Site.
I know we have people on this site that street race, we also have rules on this site that state, that you shouldn't post up about ANY street racing that you do or are involved with.
But I see it all the time still, and also people putting "it was at the track" in there racing post. We were not born yesterday, you risk peoples lives, not just your own. I could care less what you do, but please don't put other peoples innocent lives as stake.
Here's a short clip to reminding you of what will happen. Just as the people in this clip probably thought it would never happen to them, it did, no matter how good you think you can drive.
Think twice, drive safe, and keep the racing for the tracks because thats what they were build for.

i usually dont for this exact reason. i mean, i've had my car up to 115 on a back road before, but the other day (literally) coming home from work, on the 290 a bmw came up on me, and it was ~11pm so traffic was minimal, and we start going, and next thing you know i look and see my exit coming up, look down and my speedometer's at 120mph. sometimes it just happens. i had no idea i was going that fast untill i saw what i was doing. but i've never done it on a busy road or somewhere where somethign might happen (i dont race, just see how fast i can go)
i know my times coming, but unfortionatly untill then i probably wont learn, just like everyone in that vid.

Just remember, MKE. It might not be you that dies when you finally lose it. It might be some innocent guy, or girl, or kid in the car next to you.
If street racing only killed the participants, there would not be the outcry there is about it. It would more be looked at as an expensive way to play Russian Roulette. Unfortunatly, because they are run on public roads, street racing often has unexpected casualties in the form of innocent people who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
I own a bmw, it is freakish how fast that four cylinder will get my car up over 100 if I let it.. but the thing is, I don't let it. There is more to being a good driver than just having absolute control over your car. You need complete control over yourself.
Look at Nascar. Those cars are more or less the same (within the letter of the rules) but some cars and drivers ALWAYS win. Why? Because those drivers have the wisdom to know when to push it and when to sit back and let the other guy lead. It is good to know the limits of your car, but it is better to know your own limits first.

People did it..people do it...and they will continue to do it..There is no way to stop it..doesnt matter if u show wat can happen, they will still do it..
Risking to hit someone, injure maybe even kill urself, ur friends and even innocent people in the road..
There was this show on TV, that was directed against "street racing" and all this bs..It started off with a story about how a guy filmed himself "drifting"..The story was going like this: him and his friends were filming with 2 cameras, one in one car and one in the other..The first car went about 100km/h around a corner and the idiot pulled the handbrake (WTF?) well after that all u see and hear is: "omg he crashed" well the car went into a tree and hit it with the passanger side, out of 3 people in the car, 2 died..the driver survived..i dont know how he would feel about this when he killed 2 his friends.. The other part of the story was about a guy who went around the corner, lost control of the car and went into someones front yard..there was a young girl playing..about 4 years old, well she didnt survive..
You dont even need to be street racing..anything can happen..but u just need to use ur brain while driving and not just watch urself, but watch wat others are doing..some idiot might hit u..
But i dont think people learn until they experience a serious crash..i really enjoy speed laugh.gif but i dont do it on roads..first its too risky to get caught and fined..300$AUD, loss of licence and risk to get ur car impounded.. instead i just save that money and go go karting wink1.gif

Tanc I dont think street racing is that big of a problem here. No real good places to race and alot of cops. I dont street race.
With that being said, its a fact that more accidents occur because of bad drivers/cell phones/make up/eating/reading, etc while driving. Personally those are the people I would worry about.

^^ To be honest he's right, I've been run off the road from girls far more often than I've been endangered racing (which is none... excluding doing it myself).
The problem isn't a few intelligent people going up to 90mph on a clear highway, its the kids (usually) going over 100mph+ in cars not setup to do that in traffic in stupid situations to do it.

See you say it's the kids who are being stupid and who aren't set up right but like everyone else says it is usually the freak accident that you don't think will happen. Usually (in my case that is) it's the other drivers or bystanders that you can't predict. I stopped street racing when i had my big crash and rolled my BMW (which i spent well over 3 grand to convert my 325i BMW to a Euro spec M3) about 7 times. My friend and I were on an empty road we had used thousands of time before and this particular time it happened to be slick out (slick road=awesome burnouts right?). Well let me set up the innocent cars track record: Illegal alien, no liscence/issurance, and crappy ass car that just happened to lose it brakes at that exact instance. So as my friend and I finished our burnouts and are approaching about 60-70 at WOT this lady comes sliding through our path (she had already gone through three red lights due to the lack of brakes). My friend who was farther from her had the option to hit NOS and pass her barely, I on the other hand had to swerve. Within about 30 seconds I had hit the back of her car which spun her out safely into the grass but I however with a lowered car and bodykit, promptly drifted (at 60mph mind you) involuntarily into a median and proceeded to roll over actually 7 and a half times since i finished up upside down with my girlfriend at the time screaming her head off. So long story short the setup doesnt matter, the driver doesnt matter (no one was hurt in my case, except my totalled Bimmer) it's everything else and everyone else that can go wrong. And trust me eventually it usually does.

Street racing with traffic around is just plain stupid.
The extent of any street racing I've done is just going through 1st-2nd gear after leaving a stoplight, and that is when you reach the speed limit, 55. And truthfully I don't really see the harm in that. There's no pedestrian trying to cross the highway, there's no cars in front of you you have to "weave" through, and since you're only racing to the speed limit (well, 5mph over), it's not really illegal (unless there is a law about unnecessary acceleration or something). You know the roads I'm talking about, 3 lane highways with stoplights every so often. When I see people on these highways going 100+, running the yellow lights, and weaving in and out of traffic, I just want to slap them.

I agree. I was actually just thinking about this on the weekend, as I was giving my car a little bit of gas coming off of a red light - passing my buddy through second gear.
There was no way anyone could have gotten hurt with the little bit of acceleration up to the speed limit.
I however am 100% against street racing - innocent people loosing lives. just dont be stupid. Take it to the track. Serriously, AutoX OW3NS street racing!
