^^^ very well said...

We are always looking for ways to improve the site. most we don't ever tell you guys cause usually it has something to do with the server which supercow takes care of or getting other hyundai sites together to better the community.

I will see what the other mods and admin think about letting every vehicle in. I'm kinda iffy on that but if it is what you guys want, i'm fine with that.

I dont think it should be a free for all every month Lee, more like just a divergence from a Tiburon every month. If we were to do a month for domestic, import, Truck, maybe 3 months of Featured ladies, that gives a total of 6 months for Tibs only.

No one else seems to be supporting me on the topic(or cares), so until I get some members backing this idea, I dont think it will be relevant to get all the staff stirred up over it.

To me the idea of jumping from cars to girls to non-hyundai's just defeats the purpose of having a COTM. I think there would be more entries if you removed the current monthly restrictions, or perhaps made only a bi/tri-monthly contest instead. I would also support the chick contest, but lets face it, there are like 4 regular female members here. However I would support them posting nudes, maybe we could make a section for that. Might promote more site traffic.

Well,if you want to make a COTM with anything goes then whats the point calling this web site RDTiburon anymore. Might as well change it's name to Fast Cars and Fast Women......! Larrs

no worries guys...

I myself would like to see it kept hyundai made vehicles but I also want to be able to keep other members that have moved on to other rides.

Larrs, I understand what you are saying, just getting some ideas from everyone right now.

Oh, I wasn't paying attention, I meant opening it up so that any tib can compete instead of "no-turbo month", "stock cars month" and whatnot. I would vote to keep it tibs-only.

I would argue that there really isn't much relevance to an RD only board any more. They haven't been in production for 9 years. How many regular posters here own an RD anymore... 50%?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Larrs @ Dec 12 2009, 02:33 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Wow!! Here I was all proud on winning COTM, but now I'm having second thoughts. This post was made due to the lack of interest from Dec. COTM. I feel I only won now as I was the better of 2 evils. Because of this post I'm not feeling the win as proud as I should. Remember, that this forum is made up of both very active people to the web site and people who only come on here when they get a chance. That almost makes it a popularity contest that I haven't felt since I was in Jr. high school. (jocks vs the nerds) It seems to me that if some one wins that's not in the popular crowd then people start to think that this contest should be closed. Remember this web site has been running for a long time and all the popular cars have already had there 15 min's of fame and the only cars that are left are ones like mine. I really don't think that this poll should of been posted, and this topic should of been dealt with by admins only. Again as I said the winds have been knocked out of my sails. I'm still hoping a calendar will be made and my car will be posted in it as that's how important my car is to me. Larrs</div>
LARRS?! Please don't take it that way. This had nothing to do with any specific contest.

We love to see new cars win, but our member base isn't growing, we're losing members and Tibs quickly, and I questioned whether we'd be able to pull out another 12 months worth of new entries. This had nothing at all to do with who won any month.

Sparticus has controlled the COTM contest for years, he does it all and it's not just a 5 minute thread posting. He takes care of the portal page banner promoting the contest, placing the pictures of the winner in the portal page, opening the entry thread, converting it to a poll, moderating the poll, and closing at the appropriate time. It takes a lot of time and energy, and with his new job position he would prefer that somebody else take over. We've had a staff member volunteer, but the staff wants to make sure the members still find importance in the COTM, and looking at the poll, they do.

LARRS, I'm really set back by your post. Seriously... the staff tries to run the site however the members want us to. We aren't a dictatorship like so many believe. This was posted to get member feedback, and an overwhelming majority of members want the COTM to remain - they feel it's a good part of the site and want to keep it alive. So, as staff, we will do everything we can to do so.

Don't take this thread so personally. I'm sorry, but you weren't even in my mind when I posted it. It wasn't because of anything that's happened this past year, it was more looking forward for the next 12 months.

The monthly specifications were put in place to help a variety of cars have a chance to win. We didn't want only flashy show cars winning, we wanted to provide an opportunity to the nice, clean, non-body kit cars to win, or the all engine performance cars to win, as both categories have major contenders and shouldn't be overlooked because of the flashy cars. I do agree, I think it's time to remove those restrictions and open it back up, but I like the idea of having Hyundai's compete, since they do drive the annual calendar and throwing in a truck or Ford in the middle of the calendar just seems weird. If it wasn't for the COTM driving the calendar, I'd be more open to allowing other brands.

but with rds being out of production it brings the cost of buying one way down,i got mine for $700,and i'm trying to be as much of a regular poster as i can. generation specific forums do really well with other makes, hondas have tons, from ef-honda,eghatchback and even a wagon specific forum,as long as there's dedicated members and still rds on the road then new users will join.

I say keep it. There are a few of us rd owners that are just working our cars up to be worthy of COTM. I mean I would have entered many times already IF my tib was worthy of competing in my eyes. To me she's just not ready yet. Also, with the economy the way it has been for the last year and a bit, not very many people can get their rides up to how they want to present them either, I imagine.

Yeah, it's been a slim year, but IMO that's no reason to scrap the concept...just keep going and I think it will mend itself. We just have all had to prioritize for the last while.
