Hmm, i didnt think about it but when the RWD tib comes out do you think they'll still have the beta-II as an option? Because if it did we suddenly have a RWD tranny that bolts up.

Yah youd have to do rotate the engine and do some heavy modifying of the firewall and interior for room for the driveshaft but youd have a tranny that you know works at least.

ill be running new tibs off the road for a chance at stealing their rearends and such wink1.gif

If for whatever reason I pull my engine this winter Im going to take the tranny to my buddies shop. he specializes in dsms. I want to find out just how close we are to making that a possibility for us. It looks like just those top 2 bolts would be our problem

a lil offtopic, but i have been looking at and talking with some peoples about why our 5th gears go bye bye.. lol

in 5th gear there is just a brass bushing in the middle and no bearing.. so with alotta torque and romping on it, and not feathering the throttle, the oil gets squeezed out of there, and it seizes up. if we could somehow have the gear re-fabbed with a bearing, we might be golden.

as far as other transmissions, we can only hope the beta II will still be an option for the new RWD tib, so we can swap out.

and as far as gearing, i can stand how low the gearing is on the beta which is why i upgraded to a little higher gearing of the beta II, and someday will be going with the korean gearing that MJ has in his tib.. mmm top speed 190mph.. cruise speeds at like 2500rpm at 70mph.. w00t

ive allways been told that 5th gear is just a overdrive. so its much weaker then the other gears. and that your not supposed to really beat on it for that reason alone.

You want to put a 2jz Supra engine in the Tib ? I dont think the engine bay is long inough to support a 6 iin line engine. But it would be a great project and if evrything is fitted good and the tire size is good you will have a super fast tib smile.gif

so... my auto died yesterday on the way to work. I'm swapping to a manual. What tranny should I be looking for? 2.0 or 1.8? Seems to be a little difference of opinion.

Will any 2.0 Elantra engine have a tranny that matches up with the Tib? What year Elantra's had the 2.0?

Anyone selling a manual tranny, let me know!! Looking for all parts for the swap.

Personally, I can't stand how short the gears are in my Beta II tranny. I don't know why anyone would want to go with shorter gears.
