Yah well i agree the wording was misleading, i didnt mean to make it sound invincible, id rather have it as "itll take a beating". Me = pwned
But dont make it sound like your tranny blew up the minute you threw your turbo on. You were boosting quite a bit (WOT at like 4500 or so?) and did it in 5th, which is (or was at least) well known for being very weak.
What i was getting at is that for all intensive purposes, theres no reason to say "before i boost, i need a new tranny cuz the stock one is junk"

hey
the pics look alot like my engine, ill go to my garage and look at it again, and take some pictures.
i was looking on our own dutch sale site, and somebody is selling a lantra 1.8L transmission from 1997.
would this be good, or must i really stick with a beta or maybe a evo tranny?
the ratio's of the 2.0 and the 1.8 are the same, only the fourth and fifth gear on the 1.8 is higher.
Fourth gear ratio: (1.8L) is 1.061 (2.0L) is 1.031
Fifth gear ratio: (1.8L) is 0.878 (2.0L) is 0.825

The 1.8L would be a better tranny to cruise around with
does this mean that its not good if you would want to drive like a "madman"? not that i would allways do that of course wink1.gif
or can i say that they are exactly the same in size and mounting and everything, and that only the 4th and 5th gear ratio's are higher?
Guys, are you 100% sure you don't have it backwards?
I remember reading that the 1.8 tranny is actually SHORTER; so the engine revs more, driving at 60MPH would do a difference like 400rpm at least from the top of my head, Random himself wrote about this a long time ago...
Suposedly, if you mate a 1.8 tranny to a 2.0 engine (asuming the 2.0 came with it's original tranny) it would make it rev higher in each gear for a given speed; you launches would be better, but your top speed would be less and also your mileage would decrease.

Why don't you guys go to webtech and look at the tranny gear ratios for each model you want.
I posted the pics to show that the EVO trannies will NOT work. It's not an option for us.

Start making some real power and then daily drive the car, autox, drag race it, etc then reply with this comment... "itll take all the beating you can give it"

Lol How do you call the peace of the gearbox where the 2 axles go in to ? That wheel thing... I was driving so roughley with my car that that thing went out his bearings and came into the cluthchouse. It teard thorugh my gearbox and was almost stuck in my preasure plate.
In holland we also have the hyundai tiburon 1600cc (1.6) maybe thhat gearbox has shorter gears then the 1.8 and 2.0
