why did you guys go through so much work to paint the spark plug cover? take some masking tape and cover the hyundai and the DOHC logos. then cut off the edges of the tapes with a razor blade. paint then remove the tape when dry. it's that easy

Simply because it looks like shit if you do it that way.

Never can get the masking tape right.

Oh, I know, everyone will say "Oh, mine is perfect".

Bullshit.

I've seen it done on a dozen or more Tibs, and if the emblems aren't taken off, you can see some spray, some bleed, some missed area, whatever. The fact is, the only way to do it and have it come out perfect, is to take them off.

^^^
And while your paint looks like crap, I kept the covers on my car for 2 years, sold them to someone else, and they still look fantastic.

Still no overspray, still no bleeding, still no missing spots that need painted.

Fact is, it takes about 10 minutes extra to do it right.

Do it right guys.

Enough on that subject.

Pics are way too big my man, put up thumbnails or make em smaller.

Color looks allright, but I'm guessing you didn't take your Spark Plug Cover emblems off to paint? I see some scratches from cutting and some overspray/missed areas.

An addition to the DIY- keep your friggin kids away from it when your done painting or follow these steps:
1. Sand it
2. wash it
3. 3-4 coats of ground coat
4. wait to dry
5. 4-5 coats of metalcast
6. wait to dry
7. watch kid knock off the stand and then spill water all over it, then pick it up and hope no one would notice
8. Throw kid a beatin'- j/k
9. start the whole friggin process over again!!
