Can this be moved or copied to the regular forums? It seems like a pretty hot topic at the moment?

I just did not know if things could be moved out of the archives or if you wanted them moved.

Thanks REDZ

I looked at it before I went to work and it doesn't look that bad. When i get home from work i'll take a pic.

But does anything think i could just sand down the paint currently on the cover to a smooth, even texture and repaint it or should I just take all the paint off?

Uhm, yeah, this DIY covers all of it. Well, it's the same process. Just cover your exposed block with a clean garbage bag pulled over it (Duh, make sure your engine isn't hot), clean it really good inside and out, and then go to work.

No, you don't need to replace the gasket, it's rubber. I've taken mine off several times and no leaks.

Hell, Majiktib has my old beta 1 cover on his car now.

To be honest, it's easiest to just get the Beta 2 valve cover conversion kit and do it that way, then sell your Beta 1 cover after you swap.

If you scroll up... my valve cover is gunmetal.. looks sexy! (I may be exagerating a bit) the plug cover is the same deep forest green as my tib. It is a nice combination

Daafisch: Use a putty knife to get the loose flakey stuff off, then just sand until it is smooth. The places where the paint stuck will be fine, just remove where it bubbled, sand it smooth, and do one of the following:

Drink a 6 pack before you start painting. This will ensure that you are not able to rush the job this time! laugh.gif

Or...

Paint it at night and reinstall in the morning.

Good Luck the second go round.
