CNK ECU success!!!!
Sorry to say this, but I don't see why you're so stock up about this; the problem is not about what's it's called. It's pretty obvious why it's NOT right to have a PROGRAMMABLE piggy-back which is used to TUNE a car LOCKED or protected or whatever. I know CNK is your sponsor, but you don't have to stand by all their decisions. You should also be able to understand all the tuning involved in doing a turbo setup, as I'm sure your car got on the dyno a lot of times to get it right (which, AFAIK, is still not 100% perfect). Knowing this, you CAN'T be serious when you say a PREPROGRAMMED map is even remotely useful on a turboed car, even on a kit; it is of course absolutely useless on a custom turbo or anything different from the kit the map was preprogrammed for.
Please be serious.

Is it truly locked, or is it mostly locked with some tunable (+/- 5% or so) data points?
I don't think I'd want a locked ECU, mostly because I know what a bear tuning can be. People posted their SAFC tunings over at TeamSR a while ago and there were tremendous differences with people who had similar mods! Definitely not a one size fits all item.
but I don't know all the details, so I won't judge the product yet.

CNK Performance
It controls ignition AND fuel --- RIGHT NOW AS IT STANDS 100% It also works with Lambda, cold start, etc etc --- but I will not release those features just yet -- for now - fueling and ignition --- FULL CONTROL!
So it looks like everything is protected except timing and fuel.

HEY ..... WAIT ONE SECOND HERE.....
Sheet you guys ran off on a tangent ... Let me explain .
The ECU is FULLY programmable and tunable by the tuner - PERIOD!
What I protect is the Pre-tuned MAP ONLY..... so that you cannot make changes to the tuning I have done! If you want to make changes, then create your own map from scratch!
Thats all I am saying --- nothing is locked, nothing is excluded, nothing is un-tunable....
Cabeesh?

Do you have an ETA for both the initial fuel and ignition models and the full version (ignition, injectors, lambda tuning, cold start etc)?
OK, more questions. suicide
1)Is the unit programmed via a laptop and tuning software or does it come with its own controller (like the AEM or the SDS standalones use)?
**2)Does the ecm mearly piggyback the MAP sensor's signal to the ecm (like the SAFC), does it directly control the injector signal giving complete control over the pulse widths (like most standalones), or a combination of the two (like the GReddy/Trust Emanage which modifies the MAP signal AND adds (but not subtract) to the injectors on time)?
**3)How many tuning points are there for each output map (fueling, ignition, etc) and how much would things like the lambda sensor be able to modify those maps?
Two and three seems to be the biggest thing that all piggybacks on the market are lacking. Basically nothings been able to be fairly complete without ditching the stock ecm for a standalone. Thats all I can think of now.
BTW, I have a 1.6L DOHC Alpha3 engine, so I have a MAP sensor. I'm not so much interested in the MAF to MAP side of things, but more the 1bar MAP to the 2.5bar MAP sensor. wink

1) Yes - laptop
2) Sorry can't tell you that as I mentioned to you before - short answer would be trade secret.
3) There are only a single output that can be used to drive up to 6 16ohm injectors simultaneously or configured to be used for an auxillary output -- maximum of 7Amps output so no fans or heavy current drawing components. There are 128 fueling sites, and 128 ignition sites also
You will be able to run a larger MAP sensor easily with no problems with the Piggy back system - BUT with your original still in place.
