I will be traveling from Reno, NV and was hopeing to follow or join up with someone thats heading from the west coast toward this BBQ. The drive from my house to that Walgreens is roughly 16 hours which is a long time to go by oneself. More than likely if I can join up with someone you can sure mark me down as a YES :-).
I'll have to show off the new rims I'll be getting in the next month :-)</div>
Sure thing. Doing it now. Best thing to do would be to drive over to Denver, stay with Tibbytib overnight, then come down with him.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Ericy321 @ Mar 1 2008, 01:14 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Hmmm a little over 21 Hours. Well see what happens. The balloon festival sounds amazing.</div>
You have no idea man. I'm still amazed every year.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (FoxXy TibBy @ Mar 1 2008, 02:38 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>i'm saving my vacation time from work just for this. count me right in, lucky number 18! say what's the cheapest (and clean of course, don't want to stay at cheezy place) hotel down there? that is if you don't have any available room (i'll sleep on the floor tongue.gif i ain't picky lol) for me to stay in your house.
i'd like to know so i have an idea of how much to put aside for this special trip. ROAD TRIP yea!!
i thought you'd post this like couple months before the BBQ but hey half year early is good! time to really plan ahead fing02.gif thanks!</div>
We have room as of right now, and I'll put you on the list. Hotels are the usual, from Hilton to Motel 6, but the sooner you reserve a room, the cheaper they'll be. Prices SKY ROCKET the last month or so before the event. I usually do this in February, as there are balloons in the air right now prepping for other competitions and it reminds me to do it.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (SOCKS @ Mar 1 2008, 07:24 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>foxxy, i have seen some hotels not too far from where the BBQ will be for like 55$ a night.. they are chain hotels, not the cheapo sleezy ones lol.
the cost of driving down here shouldnt be too bad.. i paid like 250$ in gas (misc. food) to drive 1800 miles from michigan. made it here in 25 hours. so that was averaging 72mph down here including food/gas stops.</div>
Problem is, those prices are right now, when the fiesta gets here, they'll be almost double that. Everyone needs to reserve rooms now, and the prices should be low.
Driving cross country is one of teh greatest experiences ever.

Doesn't look like I'll be doing it this year, but it's still too early for me to see if I really can or not. I really want to, I'd just have to Miss the weekend to hosts Sparks In The Ozarks III, and then I can maybe spend the week there in ABQ. I'd love to attend this again.
Edit: If I do get to go, REDZ....do you still live at the same place?
I still kinda know how to get to your house.....from I-40 West take I-27 (?) North to the Paseo Del Notre exit on to Paradise. Is this correct?</div>
Still don't know what this "Sparks in the Ozarks" shit is, but oh well bro, your loss. I'd rather do the ABQ BBQ than go to a NOPI, I'm hanging with the people that make this site twitch and tingle, and with Java and Socks here, not to mention other members thinking about moving down here, this may be the best one yet, even better than last year.
Yeah, I still live in the same place, will till I'm done with school. You are still welcome down for the week if you want, but you know how good the BBQ is.
Updating the list now.
Also, remember that most mapping utilities like Google Maps and Mapquest only stick you to the major highways, research the routes a bit, and you can save 5 to 10 hours.
I'm not kidding you.
If you want me to run an alternate route for you, let me know, as I can probably cut quite a bit off your trip.
My trip from here to Kansas usually takes 12.5 hours if you go by the routes they calculate, my route, with plenty of gas stations and food available, takes 10.
Like for Ericy, I just went and did a quick edit of the route on google maps from him to me and cut off over 100 miles. The TIME says longer, but time is always dependant on how fast you drive.

Did you not forget that I was there last year and I know how good the BBQ is even though I hardly ate while I was there. Sparks in the Ozarks III is a major car/truck show our automobile club puts on every year, it's been put in the mini truckin' magazine as one of the best car shows to attend, even though it's mainly for mini trucks....alot of featured vehicles have shown up before and will show again. Every member Definite Obsessions is family to me...every one from all 9 chapters, so I can't really just go every year and abondon them since Sparks III also runs every 1st weekend in October.
drillsergeant.gif demon_wolf, i am MAKING you come lmao.gif i'll need company on the drive down there, and if it happens that you're not coming then i'll just have to bring my best friend becca with. lol.
