We should wait till its tuned and then see what the numbers are....his numbers without tuning are probably the absolute lowest they will be.

*sigh* after all the talks about how much of a piece of rubbish that turbo kit is... why is it people still get it? rolleyes.gif

This is the intake pipe that they sent that was WAY to long for all the piping they sent with the kit...

This is the manifold and the poor ass paint they used that came off after the first drive I took after it was installed. You'll notice all the flakes from this in all the pics!

This is the fifth injector and the tiny FPR

this was the piping that popped out of my turbo from back pressure due to the shitty internal waste gate, and the oil lines that were to long...

I don't have anything else to say about this piece... These pics are enough. REDZ can tell you just how bad this thing was...

QUOTE (brian01tib @ Mar 6 2005, 04:29 PM)
Aren't turbos better than supers in all cases even with v8 and v10

"better" is a relative term. If you're talking about peak HP, a turbocharger is the better way to go. If you're talking about moderate HP and good throttle response, superchargers and turbochargers are about equal. If you're talking about very low boost and instant throttle response, then superchargers are the best choice.

QUOTE (iamcyclopseatme @ Mar 6 2005, 04:38 PM)
^^ Umm.. Think about that and go watch NHRA drags.. Its kinda obvious ;/

NHRA uses superchargers because that is all the rules allow. Watch import drag racing... see any superchargers there? Watch Rally racing...see any superchargers there? Look at top speed record vehicles...see any superchargers there? I'm not saying superchargers are "bad". They aren't. I'm simply saying NHRA as an example is like using NASCAR as an example...should we all go N/A?
They use what the rules allow them to use, not what is "best".....

As far as I know.. the last world rally car to use a Supercharger exclusivly was the Lancia Abarth 037 (based on the same car as my Lancia) and the very last Rally car to use a supercharger was the Lancia Delta S4 which used a twin charge approach with both a turbo and a S/C. Either way, they have not been used in 1985 in rallying.

A modern, well thought out Turbo car, has almost the same throttle response as a Supercharged car. Unfortunatly, most turner cars are not well thought out, or they make compromises for peak HP over driveability.

Ford likes to experiment, that's why he sold the S/C and getting a turbo kit.

You gotta give him props for trying things!!!

Experimenting with the Alpine kit is not the most intelligent thing to do... piece of garbage... stock turbocharged cars come with better parts.

I'm sorry, but you are not the one to judge someone's intelegence man...

He's doing something with his car every day, he puts money into it, and does a lot of interesting stuff.

Alpine or not Alpine, he's doing things that make him happy and his car quick!
