Beta 1 2.4L Engine head swap
Sorry dweet 02.gif Better to be a pioneer in a rainy parade, than a pioneer w/ some empty pockets laugh.gif You always couldve found out the expensive way LOL.. Im suprised someone hasnt started making performance heads.. Ive always thought that the head is one of the more important factors in engine performance ;/ Engine can only run as well as it can flow ;/

ummm guys
i already did the beta I to beta II swap
I have had a beta I with beta II head
Beta I with beta II pistons
My current engine is another hybrid.. but at this point, i dont remember what exactly came from what year..
I can write up an article on the various differences between both betas. I think i did this before... but i remember most of it.
Ill try and write up another post later tonight.
I think im the only on here to blow up both a beta I and beta II engine

Why a beta II head on a beta I block?
I was going to do the reverse, wouldn't you get a better compression out of that? Plus you get the better cams out of the two.
I was going to do that next....probably not until about March though.
Now that was a very interesting mind excercise... but as someone else already rained your parade... lol.gif
I don't think there ever was a Beta 1 (used on 1st gen and 2nd gen Tibs) 2.4 liter; you had 1.6 1.8 and 2.0 versions, nothing else.
The 2.0 on the Sonatas however was not a Beta, it was that Hyundai version of the Mitsu engine found on the 1st gen Elantra (93-95 if I'm right) and the 2.4 version found on the Santa Fe comes from that last engine, not from a Beta, that's why head and everything looks different.
I don't know however if there is a 2.4 Beta2 (I don't think so) but even if the was one, I think it would be no easy swap with a Beta 1 engine.

the 95 and older 2.0's were 4g63's NON-turbo. However in 96 all hyundai's went to hyundai engines and not DSM engines. There is a 2.4l Hyundai engine found in the Santa Fe and Sonata
Yes that's exactly the one I was refering to... as long as I understand it's either a Mitsu Engine, or some evolve version of the Mitsu engine (or another Hyundai Engine Family, which I doubt) but I am sure it's NOT beta.
