Okay Jaws, but what does the Beta 1 to 2 swap have to do with the 2.4L head swap? LOL
Isn't the wiring harness different on the Beta 2's?

read 3 post above mine

I can help with the "mini swap"
But as far as the 2.4L... i dont think the exhaust ports will even mate up.
The 2.4 shouldint even be considered a beta

I don't think it is called a Beta. I'll have to look around and see what they call it.
Is the only point to the 2.4 head larger intake/exhaust valves? Noone has said WHY they want to put a 2.4 head on.. Smaller combustion chambers? Bigger valves? Larger ports? Just unclear on the reasoning.. From the sound of this, if your looking for bigger valves/larger ports, just modify your existing head and itll be much cheaper and alot less work ;/
well until i actually secure a 2.4L head, I cant tell the difference. All I know is the Beta 1 head sucks massively. So if the 2.4l is a bit more free flowing and would be someone of a simple swap to do then why not go for it. Someone has to do it first. I think if its successful and shows reasonable gains then it could become a popular swap.

I opened 2 browsers and looked.. They are nothing alike, I doubt it would work.. I also checked the links in the above post w/ the specs, and I cant find the actual valve diameter, only valve length.. Anyone know what the valve diameter is?
Just looking, I doubt its going to bolt up..
Also, how would you work the tensioner? From what I gathered, the timing belt on the 2.4 routes over 2 timing gears, 1 for each cam, where as the 2.0 uses 1 gear for the timing belt.. I just dont see it happening 02.gif

okay i did some research on the dsm hybrid swap.... now the only thing i can find is a 4g64 BOTTOM end with a 4g63 head... now what i've noticed is they swap out the bottom ends of the 4g63's in their second gen eclipses for a 7 bolt 4g64 bottom end.
From what i understand is this gives them more displacement. now dweet...if you say they do the head swap all the time...i think you got it reversed.... 2.4 block with 2.0 head.... if it's this way around... you don't have to worry about dohc or sohc.... just as long as yo get a 7bolt 4g64 instaead of a 6 bolt 4g64 if you have a 2nd gen 4g63... if you have a 1 g 4g63 you can use the 6 bolt.
so from what i've read... dweet i think your out of luck... the dsmers do the 2.4 BLOCK with 2.0 HEAD... so your thinkin backwards..
also i have read they do the 2.0 head onto the 2.4 block no only for the added displacement...cuz if that was so then they'd just swap the entire motor... the 2.4 head flows like crap...compared to the 2.04g63 head.... also doesn't rev as high cuz of crappy valve springs... so if this is so... i doubt the 2.54 head flows any better than our crappy 2.0 heads...

but those dsm motors are competely different from our korean motors, as is honda..... those honda are all so dam compatible all you have to do is practically swap the parts.... not to much custom fabrication involved with honda, if any at all.
but it seems like the 2.4 on the 2.0 wont work, just too many differences, and i dont see much gain out of swappin beta2 heads on beta1, cuz everybody knows the cvvt is for emmisions not power .... correct me if im wrong on any of this ........
do they do this in korea??(swappin heads) cuz they would probly be a couple steps ahead of us in the U.S.

First off, the CVVT is only on the 2004's and up Beta2's, so there are still plenty of Beta 2's that aren't CVVT out there.
As for Koreans, I asked the same thing.
I HIGHLY suggest someone post that question at www.kspec.com in our forums area. David can find out.

damn you cyclopse for raining on my parade. I hate you smile.gif
Looking at those pics there are more similarities between the Evo VIII head and the Beta head, and I have compared the Evo head to a Tiburon Headgasket. Its close but not close enough.
