this winter i've boosted 25 psi on the stock bottom end a few times (did end up with onehipped piston)
but i didn't have any spark issue
did you try using ngk irridium plugs ? might be just enough to keep things in order
spark plug wire will also play a big role, try using magnecore or MSD wires
for COP,
i' didn't get good result with those,on a turbo sled (yamaha rx-1 with gt28rs) we've gained 25 HP by converting to a regular msd coil +dis 2 versus stock COP and DIS2...

humm good question
i'd say it set-upped for wasted spark, but can't remember the reste,it'S been there fora while
i'll try to take a look

I had an issue with spark blowout at around 15 psi, but I lowered the gap to .032" and it runs great. I am running only one step colder plugs though, bk6e11's. Maybe try those?
Jesus, 25 psi on stock compression!!! You are a madman denis!! Haha. That makes me want to run my switched power to my boost control solenoid and run like 16-17 psi. Do you think it would take it? I ran it up to 20 psi a couple times trying out my dual springs in the wastegate, but the gate didn't even open at 20 when the combined spring pressure should have been opening it at 16, so I was only spinning the motor at around 4-5k at 20 psi. I think it would be ok at 16-17, an extra 40 horses compared to my current 13, that would be nice.
I don't think anyone asked, what kind of tires and size are you running on the fronts?
And are you spinning through second on the track? You must be.

tire are 205/50/15
indeed lots of wheel spin,at the track i spin trough 1st and 2nd, 3rd seem to hook up
on the street i was spinning in 4th (at 20+ psi)
it might hold, but i won't speculate, if you want to try it,go for it,but don,t come here crying you made a hole in a piston ;-)

Are those drag radials or slicks? If not any plans to run some?
I would never blame anyone but myself for any damages my car incurs, dont worry.
After all, this hobby is kind of about pushing the limits and finding them, not many people on this forum are doing that so its nice when somebody is willing to risk blowing up their engine to find the limits of these engines.

they were mickey thompson ET street radials
i need to heat them up a bit more, they stick much better when hot ;-)
yup i'm quite sure you understand, but i prefered to put the warning in there in case a newbie came across that and tough to himself
"oh! he's running 25 psi daily! why would i build myself a nice and strong bottom end"
and within a few hours kaboum!
indeed,it's all about pushing things a bit farther,i knew i was going to punc ha hole in a piston, but i just didn't know exactly when lmao.gif

^^LOL.
Exactly, we are on the same page.
I wonder if it would have lasted longer if you had water methanol? I am considering doing that and running 18-20 psi instead of 13, what do you think?
