I play soccer myself since I was a teen. It's really critical for a player to have enough strength to go through one and a half hours of constantly running, accelerating, sudden stopping, jumping, competing for a good position. It doesn't really matter if a person is a real good skillful player. If he doesn't have enough strength to stay in the game long enough, he's just a street cone in the field. Plus soccer is a team play kinda game. Once you got the ball, if you are facing 2 or 3 opponents ahead, you are unlikely to get by them without help or serious/intelligent move.I posted asking why everyone thought that Korea wouldn't win, I'm not saying I can tell the future of sports, or that I have a sports almanac for 2000-2020, but I thought they had a good chance. It was a good comparison between the Japan/Turkey and Korea/Italy games. Both Japan and Korean lost a goal early in the game. Then, Japan weren't being careful and hard working enough such as losing the ball during passing, not attacking the opponents. But in the Korea/Italy game, Even Koreans were in the extra time, they were like just started the game and still running strong. After their first goal of the game, they surrounded Italy and almost looked like they could get another goal in just the matter of time. Italy is famous of his defensive line and control of the ball. Korea is no where near that but after 90 minutes, anyone could see the difference and that was how Korea could win.
I'll tell you man, I've noticed that the Korean players seem to not get tired, I think that's what you were talking about though. I mean, you can tell they have put in a lot of work, considering most of my friends are Korean, I've been pulling for them too... I just want USA out, I'm not anti-American or anything, I just don't like their soccer team winning. rolleyes.gif

Korea may have won, technically, but Italy was the better team. It was a cheap win for Korea and without honor. For all you Korea fans, you should take no pride in a win that was determined by poor judgment calls by an bad official. You were beaten and got very "lucky".
Jo, with all this bitching, crying and complaining I guess you are now officially Italian. Your comments are ignorant and Italy damn well deserved to lose this game! The Italians came into this game with their Superiority complex and just thought they'd do just enough to beat the Koreans. Well let me say that the Koreans played damn hard just as they've done EVERY GAME! Which is more than I could say for the Italian squad! Let ME say that all you Korean fans SHOULD take pride in what their nation's squad has done with GREAT HONOR! For they won with better skill and officiating had nothing to do with the outcome. LUCK DID NOT DETERMINE THE OUTCOME EITHER..... SKILL DID!!!!
Why is it that every damn time Italy loses it's always the fault of the officiating. The finger pointing never stops. Well for once they should point the fingers at themselves.
DIVING = CHEATING = YELLOW CARD!
It's that simple. Totti decided he would cheat and the officials did what they've been doing for the entire world cup.... Penalize cheaters!
Jo, you shouldn't be such a poor sport. It was NOT a cheap win at all!
The better team won!

I think the USA team is good at sudden counter-attack and their straight forward coordination. They also had a bit of advantage in size and strength when playing against Portugal and Korea. But they lost them all to Poland. The guys from Poland were big. Similarly to Germany, I think average height for them is 1.9m and the shortest is still 1.83m, plus they got every aspect and slightly better than of the USAs. I am not surprised that Germany will win by 2 goals.

LOL I am being a very good sport, I said that it was a beautiful goal and I said good luck on the next round.
But I am also entitled to my own opinion, right? I have been watching soccer since I was a little girl and maybe sometimes I get in the "heat" of the moment, but at the end, I always give credits to whoever wins.
Gosh, good thing Romania didn't play, I would have been flaming left and right! wink
No hard feelings, Mark... you know I don't mean bad!
