The media overhyped Portugal (That is why i called them overated). Then again, they overhyped France even more.

Please explain how the media over hyped the 4th ranked team in the world? What by calling them a true contender? (which they were)

Please don't try to tell me that the media made Portugal out to be a clear winner. Because I do read too. I KNOW what the media is saying. Portugal is a strong team, the media knew it and they reported that. But not even ONCE did I hear any member of the media say that Portugal was a clear favorite to win.

We do not have the advantage of a Best-of-seven series. That means that there are going to be upsets..... happens every World Cup (ie. Senegal, S. Korea, Argentina, etc.). The media reported on the favorites, and in this tournament there are many! With England, Spain, Italy and Brazil hanging around, any one of those teams can win it. It just depends on who gets hot!

France was even more overrated this time, than in the 98 WC. This tiem, they didnt have the "HomeField" advantage if you know what I mean.
I'm glad they lost, and they didnt deserve to be in this WC at all!

Portugal did very well in the Euro 2000 Cup, but didnt play that well these past few days, same with Croatia. No biggie, its a loss, and a pricey and famefull learning experiance!

I feel bad for Portugal. They tried. But they were just unlucky. Basically each time when they had the ball, they were surrounded by 2 Koreans, 3 to 4 if it was Figo or Paulenta. I have to say Korea is the most hard working team. They just have too much energy.

Strong as Argentina can be out of the WC so I guess sh1t happens.

2 - 0

U-S-A!!! U-S-A!!! U-S-A!!!

Anyone see that header by Donovan?

Great game, Mexico played very well and had possesion 70 percent of the game, but the US was able to make the most of its opportunities. It's going to be a tough match against Germany, but i think that the US has a chance.

BTW - best of luck to Korea

Great to see US advance, very pleasant surprise. smile.gif

Also, I am surprised to see Senegal advance to the next round. It's like Carolina Hurricanes in soccer. LOL wink

I am waiting impatiently for Korea-Italy game.
All I have to say is VIVA ITALIA!

Screw mexico,... they played dirty at the end

Luis Hernandez is a bitch,... im glad they gave him a yellow card for faking like he got knocked down. Mexico was over confident.

Thats what they get
Good luck US,... youll need it. Germany will not be easy.

Well, so far all my predictions for the 2nd round have been right.

Here's how I see the rest of the tournament going:

Round of 16

Japan v. Turkey Japan

South Korea v. Italy Italy

Quarterfinals

England v. Brazil Brazil

Senegal v. Japan Senegal (the Cinderella story continues)

Germany v. USA Germany (very slim chance of US advancing past this game)

Spain v. Italy Italy (will be a close game)

Semifinals

Brazil v. Senegal Brazil

Germany v. Italy Italy

Final

Brazil v. Italy Brazil

3rd place match

Germany v. Senegal Germany
