Its so cool... because most hispanic countries lost... most hispanics people in KOrea now are routing for Korea. everybody with Korean flags on there face and shirts. The mexicans cried when they lost to America but when Univision interviewed many Mexicans and Costa Ricans... they all routed for Korea. I love Univision.. they are the best Channel for soccer. 99% of the people i ask who is going to win, they all routed for Italy.

I don't want the US to go very far either. The media doesn't cover it cause of ratings. This is the one sport that Americans aren't very good at and it should be kept that way so that they don't get all haughty about being the most dominate country in world in sports. This has to stay European or South American case closed. I know for a fact that people don't follow American soccer, its all European or South American depending on your nationality. Although I totally agree with you 4doorGL with your points.

Man this sucks. The team I most likely thought wouldn't continue (Germany) is still in, and Italy and Portugal who I thought were gonna go to the finals are out.

This has been a crazy World Cup so far, so anything can happen. Look at Senegal and Korea man I am so impressed with those two teams for getting so far.

Face it the yellow car (red after 2) on Totti is gonna be looked at as a mistake by the ref forever, and it will never be looked at by the Italian analysts as a dive. In other words they won't learn their lesson. Thing is and I was talking with a fellow European soccer follower from England, and thats how the South Americans and Italians are. They take dives, and fake injuries, harass refs to change calls. We were talking about this long before the Rivaldo (or Ronaldo) dive and various other things going on there.

I'll tell you man, I've noticed that the Korean players seem to not get tired, I think that's what you were talking about though. I mean, you can tell they have put in a lot of work, considering most of my friends are Korean, I've been pulling for them too... I just want USA out, I'm not anti-American or anything, I just don't like their soccer team winning. rolleyes.gif
I think the USA team is good at sudden counter-attack and their straight forward coordination. They also had a bit of advantage in size and strength when playing against Portugal and Korea. But they lost them all to Poland. The guys from Poland were big. Similarly to Germany, I think average height for them is 1.9m and the shortest is still 1.83m, plus they got every aspect and slightly better than of the USAs. I am not surprised that Germany will win by 2 goals.
As much as I hate to admit it, you are right. But who knows... I don't think the USA will play the way they did against Poland. We have seen that in this World Cup that desire and dedication can get you through.

IMO - Friedel and Kahn are the two best goalies there are. So it should be an interesting matchup.

I was so happy today morning. Me and my family watched the Italy:S. Korea game together. When Italy scored first, I thought we lost, but we came back like a miracle. Korean players' stamina is unbelievable. With 12th player(fans who are called red devils), I personally think they can beat Spain. I am hoping they can go all the way because if USA beats Germany, I believe that Korea will beat USA. Turkey played pretty good, too. Yo, Mark, for Portugal I am sorry man, but I think Figo is one of the greatest player in soccer history ever.

Remember the old saying, "Cheaters never prosper"! Mexico and Italy both got what was comming to them for that sad, sad, sad, shamefull performance against each other when they head the news about the Croatia vs Ecuador game. I hope their lesson was good enough to teach them in the future not to pull something like that durring a global game!

Why is everyone still knocking the US ?

In America I think you can all prove that popular sports and sport teams are only popular because of their success.
If you want to see the rise in populatity with Americans and soccer the only way its going to happen is if the US team advances to a reputable placing. This is one reason I want America to win, because I want Soccer to finaly become somewhat popular in the US and compete with (cringe) baseball/football/basketball!

I think the media has alot to do about it. Here in my town, we never got into international events, we got sh1tty players. But still soccer is very popular here because we have coverage on all European leagues, English, Spanish, ... etc. We have live channels for all World Cup games. And I started watching when there was West Germany. Talks about waking up at 2am and 5am and going to school after the games. I am glad this year is in Korea/Japan.

My dream game is on 21 June, England vs Brazil. I think that's about 20 June midnight for you guys in the states. If you have the chance, you gotta watch it. I was hoping it happens in the final instead of so soon. It's the highest level of battle in speed against skill. 3 R's(skill) against Cole and Campbell(strength); Beckham(skill) and Owen(speed) against Carlos(strength). These are the world's top players.

No offense, but that statement is very ignorant. You want a team of soccer players who have worked their asses off and trained and have the skill to advance to lose because the media in America doesn't cover soccer? Hell, I was watching the news the day after US beat Portugal and it wasn't covered. Does that mean they should lose because media execs don't find it worthwhile to mention?
The LA Lakers worked hard to get to the finals, but I wanted them to lose the whole way there. The Detroit Red Wings worked hard and won the Stanley Cup, but I did not want them to win. I'm just saying I don't want the United States to win. Like I said, there are some people who really follow soccer in the states, and I imagine you really want them to win and wish they would so soccer could become more "mainstream" here. I don't follow soccer much, and that is why I pulled for my nationality, Mexico. I'm just watching all the games now because it is a sport, and I tend to watch mostly sports. wink

Ah man that's life, you win some and you lose alot. Figo is a great player but I don't know about the greatest in history. I'd be more inclined to say Pele or even the "Black Panther" Eusebio who played for Portugal in 1966 and Brought Portugal to their best World Cup finish ever (3rd place).

It has been one of the better World Cups I remember watching. The upsets are incredible. It's great to see teams like Korea, Senegal & the U.S. play their hearts out! GOOD LUCK!

I'm planning on going to Portugal in 2004 for the European Cup. I just have to experience a live game. The atmosphere looks amazing!

Its OFFICIAL!!! Italians are a bunch of babies when they lose.

Ahn not welcome anymore in Italy

No this is NOT a joke, just the Italians are a bunch of poor sports. I liked their chances of winning the World Cup this year, but after this, they deserve losing. Just cause someone scored a goal doesn't mean that you have to treat them like this. Do you see the Americans treating the Canadians this way after Canada won the gold medal? No.
