The car is set up right now for drag racing. That's all that I do.

I am looking into doing autox, but I'll need to change a bit of my set up for that.

Also redz, you wouldn't be down sizing, 225/45/16 is a up size for ya lol

...

Really?

Shit. I know almost nothing about tires, I wish someone would thoroughly school me.

I'm part of the FSAQ here in Quebec, the same as the SCCA but not of the border wink1.gif

Me I'm all about Solo1 or solosprint as they call it now, tried solo2 as well, but with the turbo at slow speeds in 1st, 2nd or 3rd gear the car is just uncontrolable.... The car isn't fun to drive at the low speed you usualy encounter in solo2 events. But as soon as I got the chance the floor it on an open course, I was hooked! I have to say I enjoy lapping even more, as passing other cars is permitted most of the time in the strait lines. The feeling of going by a 350Z or a Porche is just priceless fing02.gif

I've been drag racing as well for some time, long before I got on a circuit. To date, my best time is 13,40 @ 109mph, but that was last summer and the car as been modified since (nice chrismas gift cool.gif ), I'm expecting to go in the 12's high next summer, maybe more once the engine will be forged.

I've laped at a couple of different tracks here in Quebec and Ontario, but my favorite is by far the Calabogie motorsports track

I'd like to try out the one in Shannonville (Ontario) this summer and there's also a new one openning this spring (ICAR) about 30min from my place. smile.gif

Nice to see that there is a couple of us willing to put the car on the track and drive it like it should! fing02.gif

Would should check out the motorsports section, that's where the action is when the season begins.

the only time i race legally was at Langley Speedway in Hampton, VA...it is a small oval track with walls that will kill your car...

and by the grace of god i have not but have come close twice...

one time back bumper miss the wall by one foot and the other time spin out...

As for my weekend tire choice, the XD's came stock on 195/60/15's compared to the RD's 195/55. So the 225/45 is 30mm wider but over all height is .25" shorter. This helps my gearing off the line. They are a MASSIVE tire for this little car. I've only rubbed once, on a VERY bumpy course in Ft Wayne under hard corner, carrying the rear inside tire mid turn. On my H&R's they offer a great feel, gradual breakaway at the dege. My only gripe on the RS-2's is straight line acceleration grip is a bit weak. But lateral grip is phenomenal.

This year, while I'm tech cheif and doing all I can for the club, I'm strapped financially. We're putting the wife (a teacher) through grad schools this year, trying to pay cash and pull what we can't save out of our savings. So other than out 10 races, and a possible 2-3 extras that'll be it this year.

I used to drag race the Tib and autocrossed at the TX Mega Meet (won overall). But lately, the Tib and the Z are always down getting upgrades.

No offense to you straight line guys, but I could never get into it. Partly because I've never had anyhting faster than a low 15's vehicle, partly because I drive more than a 1/4 mile at a time and mostly because I LOVE to feel G-forces from all sides. I love putting a car through its paces and pushing every part (acceleration, braking and lateral grip) of the car to it's limits and finding out that those "limits" are alot farther than this pansy has ever pushed!

My ideal auto-x car is an 89-94 Suzuki Swift GT/GTi. Hard to find becauseof their low production numbers and the way salt eats them.

That's because you've never driven a fast car. You'd change your mind after excellerating from 70 to 150mph in a nice turbo car.

While I had always planned to autocross the Tib, it is a fwd car, so I've kind of started to make the Z the all around racer. It still has stock suspension and it still grips better than the Tib around hard corners. Coming out of the corners is hard to do well on the Tib because it breaks loose so easily. I'd have to run full slicks......

Same here. I find drag racing to as boring as curling.

Even being behind the wheel of a 6-spd LT1 Camaro, I still looked forward to the turns. Pulling out of a tight corner in 2nd gear with 330ftlbs of torque at your foot is a great feeling.

I grew up with GM B-bodies (retired police cars) and GM trucks, so the pull of a V8 is very intoxicating to me! My fav car has got to be my 89 Caprice 9C1.

I would to if my car still ran 16's. lmao.gif

Try not to take too much offense to that. It's a general statement. fing02.gif
