a 2.0L Tiburon on stock tires can theoretically run to 156mph (gearing limitation)
a 1.8L Tiburon or 1.8/2.0L Elantra(97-00) on stock tires can theoretically run to 147 (gearing limitation)
a XD Elantra..... 139 (gearing limitation)

I believe that the car runs out of Horsepower before it runs out of gearing, so You'd never get over 140-145 without a turbo, nitrous, or seriously heavy N/A mods.

I've hit 140 MPH on my motorcycle at the racetrack, but on the streets, I keep it under 120mph (both car and bike).

Honestly, I can count on one hand the number of times I have been to 120 or above.

Once in my fiat (did exactly an INDICATED 120.. at a grand over red line in fourth)

Once in my Tiburon to get away from a Ford Explorer who was busy trying to get his roadrage on me

Once in my Father's 260Z.. took that to an indicated 140MPH and it was still accelerating when I chickened out big time.

I think Tib's (2.0) gear limit is 167 mph on 5th gear at 6700 RPM.
But engine will rev up till it's max power (don't remember exact RPM)

But on tech spec top speed on Tib is 202 kph (126 mph).

I run on my Tib at 180kph (112mph). there was a bit of trafic, so I couldn't test it's max speed.

On my ex-car (Opel Vectra 2.0 1991 year) I run 200 kph (125 mph) on winter tires at night with drizzling rain. (don't tell me that it was stupid!!!) Car went very good! Car could run faster, but there was a trafic 02.gif

I have one of those license plate covers that kind of "blur" out the lettering/numbers just for safety purposes.

As for my SPEED with my Tib, I've taken it up to about 110. I have an automatic and it moves like a vacuum until 100 when it really begins to let up and lose it's battle with the friction of the air.

Sorry to say, I'm much more interested in the way a car drives in it's entirety; not just how fast I can get it to go. I'm sure I could get it to 120. Not necessary to go any faster than that.

Then why am I at 6krpms while going 125mph? 156 can't be right.

Back when I car was stock, on a 3%-4% downhill slope, 135mph according to my speedo. I had a little more to go in the RPM range, but the thought of getting pulled over swoon heavily in my head. Now-a-days, on a flat straight away, I rarely go over 125 mph. (Near my parents place is just wide open roads in the middle of the desert.) I think the body kit is causing alot more drag on my car, so it just runs out of steam. From 80-115mph, its fairly quick, but 115-125 takes about a mile to a mile and a half to accomplish.

I find my car feels best at 80mph. Just for some reason, it feels rough until you hit 80. After 80mph, the ride suddenly becomes alot smoother.

My car definitely has power at a rolling start. Like I've said many times, this car is underpowered, yet it is UNDERrated. I definitely have trouble beating cars from a stand still, but a rolling start is where I really pick up power.

Even at 110 MPH the engine feels and sounds mighty powerful. I love listening to that engine! Especially hearing that intake suck in that air. I try not to take my car up to 100 often, but when I do it's quite a sensation!
