I never said that he did not have the ability to kick my ass.Maybe the car is capabil, but he was not.If he and the car was capable of jetting past me at 110mph,he didn't do it for whatever reason.

The thing I think is funny is that I'm always hearing around here how much better and how great the RD's are compared to the GK.Now it's like alot of people are changing their stand points like John Kerry.

Default pics of my tib.. worth a look?

hey... guess what... we're not ten anymore... STOP b****ing over this stupid ass stuff. hey guess what... i have a car... its kinda fast... i got beat by an r/t neon... but guess what.. neither him nor i talk about it cuz now we are pretty even in the quarter and honestly nobody wants to hear us blab about racing. who cares if a stock GK is faster than a stock RD... who cares if a modded RD is faster than a stock or modded GK... moral to the story... who cares!

personally... i street raced last year.... it was fun, watched one of my buddies get taken to the hospital after flipping is car in a race on a highway... stopped my street racing days. racing is meant for the track... but if u choose to do it elsewhere, you may suffer the consequences. im out of stuff to say... pretty much. just quit with the whining and b****ing about who has a faster car and who is layin bullshit...

It's very possible Mad beat him. First of all, if the GK was an automatic, he could have won. Second we don't know how good the GK driver was. Mad could've just out driven him.

hey hey hey now... chhhhh. here's what i have to say.

most all people with RD's absolutely love their cars. most GK owners don't really understand the evolution of our cars. i'd guess half of them probably think their Gen3 is a first generation that just got introduced!

yet... we all keep forgetting that there are four generations of coupes. don't you all remember the Scoupe?

what i'm trying to say is, if you park a scoupe and a tiburon together--there's little to no comparison.

park a GK and an RD together, there's really no comparison. they are different generations. in my eyes, the coupe just kept getting better and better. you cannot park a Scoupe and a GK together. they will look totally different! I hope the next generation coupe looks more like a futuristic RD.
it's really not the car. it's the owners and their attitudes.

i was driving on the capitol beltway on a beautiful day, and just as i came off the ramp, a silver GK with the [hottest girl you've ever seen] pulled next to me. and she looks at me pointing her thumbs up, smiling! i tell you--that made my day. that made me happy all day long. and then i know that the GK is worthy of the name "tib". What's also worthy about the GK, is that when the GK passes people in ANY other car, instantly become jealous and regretful they eyed it over when they purchased their cars lol.gif

i think it's good to share your experiences because then you can get some feedback on what to do, and what not to do, or be aware of next time you're up against a GK.

i also think that you can't really hurt yourself on the beltway going 110. there's nobody out there. and should you see anything around the bends you wouldn't be stupid enough to keep going. in college park, last year, there was a fatal accident civic VS. golf gti off the light on adelphi rd. the GTi driver (going 80+ speeds) went across the median junction onto oncomming side thinking there were no cars there, showing off that he could go faster than the civic and take him on going the wrong side of the street (perhaps getting a chance to come back in the next median junction. GTi collided with an oncoming car excessing speeds of 100mph killing both himself and the oncoming driver while the Civic sped away. those drivers are fhe FVCKTARDS that deserve to be punished. we don't hear about those people... a few minutes after that deadly incident, i turned into adelphi rd. only to find out the entire road (both sides) had been closed off and surrounded by cops. i found out later on from a good friend who was waiting at the light intersecting adelphi, witness the two cars streak by.

i think that horseplay is okay. i think that speeds excessing 80 miles per hour on a commercial area are far too dangerous. i also think that you have to be smart about what you do and keep it tamed down. if the racer owns you by 70mph than there's no point but to call it a night and brake. i don't even think of racing as serious these days because i know not to do it. but sometimes i accelerate quickly to find out if i have someone off the line but when i reach the speed limit zone, i take a sigh of relief. kinda pointless because when you pull into your driveway, you hear some clanking noise and probably find out you're car has had the last of your driving.

it's all good though guys. we're just giving our thoughts and opinions here. MADTIB is just sharing his imopressions of the GK--lemme tell you, it's tough trying not to fvck around with one when you see one, and the driver is a super hot chick. although we might prefer RD's, the GK's are worthy of holding their value. some GK drivers may not be.

i'm actually satisfied with the GK even though i love my RD and think it's way too sexay. the RD's make people jealous, but the GK's make them even more jealous. I have friends who buy Civics, Accords, Neons, RSX's, Mustangs, for $20,000 and either see my 2004 Tiburon catalog (from the dealership), or a new Tib fly by, and just have this huge frown on their faces because they know the Tiburon is just too sexy for their taste. 8)

they accerlerate better in the upper RPM range, mainly because it has a larger displacement then a 4cyl.

NO.

Larger Displacement = More torque.

Torque makes up the LOWER part of the power band. HP is the upper.

Torque = Acceleration
HP = Top Speed.

Larger displacement and MORE CYLINDERS = slower throttle response.
More mass to move.

Our (BETA) engines raise revs quicker than the V6 Delta. Meaning we get INTO the peak portions of the Power band quicker than the Delta.

Dude, it has nothing to do with where it's at in the power band. I can show you a dyno sheet from my Corvette that shows peak power coming on at 5700 RPM. I can also show you a video of a friends Z06 ripping through gears, showing how a 350 ci engine has no problem in the top end. 0 to 100 in 8 seconds. ) to 150 faster than my car can run the quarter.

Peak torque can come in down low, or up top, same with HP.

Throttle response has nothing to do with displacement. It's the efficiency of the drivetrain and torque. A larger displacement engine may have more mass to move, but it's got more move moving the mass and more hp per liter.

The V6 Tib has only a handful of poines more than the RD, weighs more, has more weight over the front, has more rotational mass with those 17"rims and is arguably less aerodynamic. I've driven one before, nothing special.

HKC gets my vote for the best post in this thread.

Allblack.....what do Vettes have to do with this???

My comparison was directly related to THIS THREAD.
Meaning BETA vs DELTA.

Really..........

ok

QUOTE (Allblacktibby)

Want to try re-explaining that in understandable english??? I have read it 5 times and still have have no clue WTF you are trying to say here.

QUOTE (Allblacktibby)
and more hp per liter.
More displacement does NOT always = more HP/L, I dont know the engine code for it but the S2000 is a PERFECT example.

POWERBAND was the key word up there. You show me a dyno where the Peak horsepower comes BEFORE the torque peak (in relation to RPMs) and i MIGHT modify my statement.

My sister now owns a GK V6 GT. It's an automatic and so is my 2000.

Taking off from a stop, the GK has an advantage. It can take off quicker and get up to speed faster. From a roll, whichever car has a manual will overtake the other, no problem. They both seem to have the same amount of power once above 45MPH or so.

In my experience, comparing auto to auto (so that it's not the driver's ability to shift but the cars performance) the GK V6 is only better on take offs, and pretty much the same when rolling. I was very unimpressed with the GK V6 GT automatic. I have, however, heard that the manual GK V6 is much much quicker than the auto. Haven't driven one yet. This is just my opinion.

And no, the moderators do not condone street racing. There was a valid question, one that SEVERAL people ask and wonder about. He was giving us a scenario of what he experienced and a question derived from it. He wasn't a newbie coming on here saying, "I spanked a GK V6! GK = 0wn3d! I'm a r4c3r y0!"
