Anyone on here carry concealed? legally of course? Here in WI they wont allow it yet. That is one thing I would love to see happen soon. The people that obey the law should be able to have them. Whether guns are illegal or not the people causing the problems will still cause the problems.

Redz, love the point on the borders. I really am looking forward to a day when we really focus on that. We spend rediculous amounts of money every year because of all the illegals.

As I'm not 21, I can't legally carry yet, but in a few months I will get my concealed permit.

For the Canadians that feel that guns should be banned.....

This past week in Toronto, there were how many shootings? Was it 7? An innocent bystander was gunned down while smoking outside of a bar. She was 23 and just moved into the city. The suspect they're looking for.....well, he was already out on bail for gun charges and was under a court order to not carry any weapon of any kind....

So here's the question.....WHAT GOOD WILL BANNING LEGAL HANDGUNS DO?????

The people that are shooting up the streets in Toronto have no regard for the law, and are not using legally registered guns. They'll get them the same way they always do. Illegally. So go ahead, take them from the people who collect them, or go to the ranges to pop off a few rounds at paper targets.

The logic of banning handguns is just the same as banning turbo'd cars that people take to the track on the weekends, but also drive legally on the streets. Theres always the few idiots with complete disregard for public safety and the law.

Believe me, I'm just as sick of hearing about shootings in the GTA as everyone else, but its the jackasses in Ottawa dragging their lazy asses around doing absolutely nothing. The Provincial government can come up with a law to ban using cell phones while driving because "Its a hazard to human life". Well when are we going to step up and have MANDATORY SENTENCES of 10-20 years for these idiots firing guns off in the streets? The guy who shot that 23 year old in Toronto was already charged with being in possession of an ILLEGAL GUN....instead of throwing him in jail for 5-10, he's back on the streets, buys another gun, and now an innocent young woman is dead. EVERYONE NEEDS TO WRITE THEIR MP (Member of Parliament for the Americans reading) AND TELL THEM THIS IS B.S.!

The biggest argument a lot of older people come up with is "bring back the death penalty". Better yet, how about making a life sentence....A LIFE SENTENCE. Not 25 years and you're free to go as long as you promise not to do it again.

Now that he's bought ANOTHER gun, FIRED this gun, and murdered an innocent young woman....he should be shipped off to prison. And the only way he should leave that prison is in a body bag.

[/rant]

BTW, I'm now going to write my MP.

Maybe I'm just inexperienced or sheltered... I've always been under the impression that guns keep people straight. You don't have to use a gun, in fact, most people are happy to never use their gun for the purpose of self defence, but having it provides protection.

In Montana, we would practice using guns at the range and we would carry them with us when we went hiking in the woods. My step dad has a gun safe with everything from high powered military grade fully automatic weapons to .22 pistols. He is a cop and respects/loves guns. The reason we carried guns was because there is a threat from mountain lions and bears. You also never know what kind of crazy fuxor you might meet in the middle of nowhere.

In the Army, everyone is trained on a weapon to kill people. Most of the time the only bullets fired from that weapon are at a piece of paper and most people are happy to never have to kill another human being. It is part of the job being a soldier and even though I've been shot at with multiple types of munitions, I've never directly fired a gun at a person with an intent to kill. (I say directly because I used to acquire targets for large 155mm HE guns to kill)

I think everyone needs to feel secure in some way. Guns are one way, large groups of friends are another way, tazers, bear spray they're all for safety. I've carried a gun a few times and have never used one except to shoot targets, skeet and a can on top of a stump. I think guns are another effective tool which man has harnessed. If we didn't have guns, people would probly carry around baseball bats or something else effective.

^^^ I agree

optimoprime: seriously, was the last part necessary? I love this country as well, but we are far from perfect in many ways. Also, if we are so much better as you say then why do you feel the need to ostracize everyone else? It makes it seem like the US is the guy with the small penis that keeps talking about how big his dick is thinking that no one will notice the truth. If you believe something that's fine, you don't have to push it on other people.

""That's like a wreck at NASCAR while a kid was standing on the wrong side of the fence, then saying do we need NASCAR? You've got to respect other people's hobbies. They got into guns just like we got into cars. Cars kill more people each year then guns. We've also got to respect other people's rights. ""

It depends on who's weilding them. It also depends on experience. Would you not agree that a 15 year old in a race car would be just as lethal as a 15 year old with a gun?

The analogy was that they are both hobbies. They are both interesting to different people. I'm not really into NASCAR or guns. I respect both as hobbies and they can both be recreational and safe if done properly.

There ARE those who use guns recreationally. I trap shoot clay pigeons sometimes when I go home.

I see only one problem with current gun regulations. People should be screened better and given more education before they are able to purchase a gun.
