I am in no way encouraging gun control, but that instructor should have been standing behind him holding the gun with the boy. When my boys were that young and I let them shoot my handgun I would do the same thing. A kid that age is way too young to be handling a handgun (if it was a mini-UZI) let alone a fully automatic weapon.

QUOTE (Bullfrog @ Oct 28 2008, 10:25 PM)
They are the ones who respect the guns. so ya, we do need gun shows.

U.S.A
"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the Right of the people to Keep and Bear Arms shall not be infringed."

-"If gun laws in fact worked, the sponsors of this type of legislation should have no difficulty drawing upon long lists of examples of crime rates reduced by such legislation. That they cannot do so after a century and a half of trying that they must sweep under the rug the southern attempts at gun control in the 1870-1910 period, the northeastern attempts in the 1920-1939 period, and the attempts at both Federal and State levels in 1965-1976 - establishes the repeated, complete, and inevitable failure of gun laws to control crime." -- Senator Orrin G. Hatch (R-Utah) quoted from "The Right to Keep and Bear Arms, Report of the Senate Subcommittee on the Constitution, Washington: U.S. Government Printing Office, February 1982, p. vii."

-"If cowardly and dishonorable men sometimes shoot unarmed men with army pistols or guns, the evil must be prevented by the penitentiary and gallows, and not by a general deprivation of a constitutional privilege." - Arkansas Supreme Court, 1878
Laws for punishment for crimes committed with guns, not laws against guns.

im sure that 8yo respects the gun
Bowling for Columbine: how many people are killed by guns each year? compared to the population of the usa, its quite high. and i dont think its non-logical to say less guns, less accidents, less deaths

joke i heard: the right to arm bears. lol

And we are GLAD you guys don't come down here, you'd probably smart off and get shot.

Seriously, everyone always blames the guns.

Let's take away the guns from the legal lawful owners, and then there'll be no more accidental shooting deaths in the US, 0%!!!

But then the amount of folks killed by illegal guns will SKYROCKET.

I say Canada needs to outlaw the cold, that'll lower the gynormous rate of cold weather injuries and deaths up there.

...

I still think it's funny as hell, everyone in the world thinks everyone here walks around with pistols and rifles all the time.

Stupidity is stupidity, if you are dumb enough to put a 8 year old behind, or LET one behind the control of an automatic weapon, you should expect the consequences. Teach your kids how to handle them and the "mystery" behind them is gone. Kinda like alcohol, remove the mystery, remove the desire.

U.S. Leads Richest Nations In Gun Deaths

BY CHELSEA J. CARTER
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

ATLANTA -- The United States has by far the highest rate of gun deaths -- murders, suicides and accidents -- among the world's 36 richest nations, a government study found.
The U.S. rate for gun deaths in 1994 was 14.24 per 100,000 people. Japan had the lowest rate, at .05 per 100,000.
The study, done by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is the first comprehensive international look at gun-related deaths. It was published Thursday in the International Journal of Epidemiology.
The CDC would not speculate why the death rates varied, but other researchers said easy access to guns and society's acceptance of violence are part of the problem in the United States.
``If you have a country saturated with guns -- available to people when they are intoxicated, angry or depressed -- it's not unusual guns will be used more often,'' said Rebecca Peters, a Johns Hopkins University fellow specializing in gun violence. ``This has to be treated as a public health emergency.''
The National Rifle Association called the study shoddy because it failed to examine all causes of violent deaths.
``What this shows is the CDC is after guns. They aren't concerned with violence. It's pretending that no homicide exists unless it's related to guns,'' said Paul Blackman, a research coordinator for the NRA in Fairfax, Va.
The 36 countries chosen were listed as the richest in the World Bank's 1994 World Development Report, with the highest GNP per capita income.
The study used 1994 statistics supplied by the 36 countries. Of the 88,649 gun deaths reported by all the countries, the United States accounted for 45 percent, said Etienne Krug, a CDC researcher and co-author of the article.
Japan, where very few people own guns, averages 124 gun-related attacks a year, and less than 1 percent end in death. Police often raid the homes of those suspected of having weapons.
The study found that gun-related deaths were five to six times higher in the Americas than in Europe or Australia and New Zealand and 95 times higher than in Asia.
Here are gun-related deaths per 100,000 people in the world's 36 richest countries in 1994: United States 14.24; Brazil 12.95; Mexico 12.69; Estonia 12.26; Argentina 8.93; Northern Ireland 6.63; Finland 6.46; Switzerland 5.31; France 5.15; Canada 4.31; Norway 3.82; Austria 3.70; Portugal 3.20; Israel 2.91; Belgium 2.90; Australia 2.65; Slovenia 2.60; Italy 2.44; New Zealand 2.38; Denmark 2.09; Sweden 1.92; Kuwait 1.84; Greece 1.29; Germany 1.24; Hungary 1.11; Republic of Ireland 0.97; Spain 0.78; Netherlands 0.70; Scotland 0.54; England and Wales 0.41; Taiwan 0.37; Singapore 0.21; Mauritius 0.19; Hong Kong 0.14; South Korea 0.12; Japan 0.05.

Wow. 14.24 out of 100,000. But Canada is TENTH.

Blow it out your ass.

^ Yes, 'cause that's exactly what happens in all the kajillion countries out there where guns are illegal rolleyes.gif
Let's take a look at a couple developed countries shall we?

Firearm homicide death RATE per 100.000 population:
US 3.72
Germany 0.22
Switzerland 0.58
Austria 0.42
Japan 0.07

Firearm unintentional death rate per 100.000 population:
US 0.59
Germany 0.04
Switzerland 0.13
Austria 0.05
Japan 0.00

Oh and could it be that Canada's high death rate has SOMETHING to do with the fact that people can freely move to/from US?

What you just said, as usual, makes no sense. And there are only like 260 countries around the world.

When Austrailia and the UK banned guns, violent crime SKYROCKETED.

Ban firearms, so when you rob someone there is a VERY good chance they will not shot back. Criminals don't care about bans, it makes things easier for them. Gun laws hurt people who don't need gun laws. Criminal is not going to stop using a firearm, plain and simple.

We can all sit here and throw stats around all day long if you want, it's not going to change anything for anyone. I feel safe and secure in my home, with my guns. If someone wants to come take them from me, they'll have a fun time trying.

Right Java?

The most famous quote that sums it all up...

"If you outlaw guns, then only outlaws will have guns."

You don't like it, fine, leave, it's in the constitution, and it's not going to change.

Or am I the only one tired of frigging foreigners coming here for all the great stuff we can do for them, then telling us what we have to change to be more like where they just left? You don't like it, take your FOREIGN ASS HOME.

lol, this is a sad stupid incident but whats even dumber is the people saying my countries better than yours because of it!

Seriously guys. The US is a different place than canada. The culture mix is different, we have the highest immigration rate in the world. That means we have so many different people with different ideas. there's bound to be more fights. Many ending with guns. Taking the guns away won't do anything. I person with a gun will have little to fear since the occupants of any house he enters will have little means of protecting themselves

BTW, I'm changing the stupid, and misleading title Evo decided to put up there.

This wasn't involved in any "GAME".

Don't forget also, the crazy Americans and our silly guns have NEVER been invaded. Hmm, I wonder why...

Lol redz, did my post have too many numbers to make any sense to you? Or you just gave up thinking I actually believed there are more than a couple hundred countries out there? Like always, you nitpick on insignificant things just to 'win' the argument.

And as to your "SKYROCKETED" beliefs, well, get your facts straight.

Here's a survey about Australia, look at the first figure. Continued _decline_ DOES NOT EQUAL 'skyrocketed'
