The canister can be removed (not legal for emisions control) wink.gif
You can see in this pic of my filter, the bracket that held the canister is still there (my filter comes in from the top). You may have to remove the whole thing though 02.gif

wow... that's all i have to say. i thank you guys for responding so quickly and helping me out with this. i'm fried. 5 hours of standing up and i feel like my insides are about to come out.

i had to piece everything back together. man, that vapor recovery system box is so gay.

mad-machine, thos pics looks GREAT! i love the way that is setup. that's one way to beat the problem. i bet it must have been a pain in the butt too. i shouldn't even be talking lol. this is my first time discovering what's inside the tib... and that vapor box had to spoil all the fun... i'm just going to have to give the CAI to my sister wink.gif at least i didn't lose the money.

i appreciate the responses, the help, the insight. thank you guys! what do you think about a short ram intake? not what i was hoping for, but it's all i got left unless somebody can customize my CAI.

Right now I have a short ram intake and I really don't see any trouble with it.If the hot air entering the engine is robbing me of power, I don't think it's much.Actually, the short ram( open element K&N ) seems to work better on this car then others I've had.

no no.. slow down. you should check this out before losing a whole bunch of power... http://www.hyundaiperformance.com/forums/t...pic.php?t=25610
i just installed my cai intake 3 days ago after t4 attempts. i tried cutting it ( like stated ... here http://www.rdtiburon.com/index.php?name=Fo...ighlight=#11335
but it didnt have enough room for my filter so i did a search on hyundaiperformance and found the first site. From what i read on that page, i think it should be fine if you remove the evap canister. I believe thats the best way to go.

Yeah man, keep your CAI, take out the GAY cannister in there, you don't need it, and just route all of the lines together with a connector.

Redz, I routed the lines together and had trouble in warm weather (more pressure in the tank), so I bloked the bleed line that goes to the IM and routed the vapor line coming from the fuel tank into the CAI. No problems yet 8)

The line comes up from the fire-wall to the rear side of the CAI tube.

col96fx, i see you went through the same exact trouble. is your mod able to pass emissions when the lines are connected to the CAI? ...i don't know why hyundai just had to put it in that place... but i guess back then they sort of didn't know hyundai tiburons would have such aftermarket support and fast and furious movies would affect distributors to producing merchandise for these cars. but they should have known sooner that racing is reputation. why would they call them RD's if they knew people were going to modify them?

rd1tib, thanks for the links! they are very helpful! it really cleared things up for me as i have decided to do what blacktib has done.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Yeah man, keep your CAI, take out the GAY cannister in there, you don't need it, and just route all of the lines together with a connector.</div> i don't think it will pass emissions if you route the wires together with a conector. how would i be able to relocate the wires to the back? would i need to route the hoses to the bottom of the car and then attatch the canister to the rear beam as blacktibs mentions?

HyundaiKitCoupe I don't know if it would pass emissions, I can't see why not, but if I need to I can put everything back how it was without to much trouble so it can pass wink.gif
It all depends what state I,m in b/c some have checks & some don't :?: I'm in Sth Aust now and there are no checks unless you unlucky and get a random road-side check :x

that is true Mad-Machine. why go through all that trouble trying to remove it when emissions will simply eye over it?

i'm going to do this on thursday. my schedule for tomorrow is tight. if i see what's down there, perhaps i can still move it. i went to home depot today and spotted some good feet of tubing for it and some barbs to run the tubing through. does anyone know where is the best place to run the tubing through to the back of the car? i'm thinking of underneath the skirts somewhere... and it's only because i don't want my CEL on...
