my detector has HELPED me a lot, but it can not be relied upon. like some of you have said, you need your eyes (especially with laser) but the detector aids them. its somethin ill prob never get rid of

I don't have one but they are illegal here anyway. The police have radar detector detectors and will ticket you and confiscate the unit if they catch you with one.

I don't have one...the only speeding ticket I got was laser anyway, so it wouldn't have helped. Now I really don't speed. I go about 77-8 on the highway (70 limit) and I also go about 5 over in the city. I have actually been told by the Michigan State Police office that they won't pull you over unless you are going 80+ ( I was going 82 when I got pulled over, but only got written for 75 = $95 but no points)

I have Solo s2. Best cordless radar on the market laugh.gif

It has Laser detection as well as VG2 detection. It works like magic! Starts beeping over the hills and sometimes over a mile before cop is in my sight!!! Amazing thing! It saved me many times already! Although, you should still watch with your own eyes because cops might turn off their guns and turn them on as you approach closer and have no time to slow down. Also, gotta be very careful on the turns.

It helps, but it's better to overwatch it with your own eyes and be cautious than be sorry later!

Illegal in Virginia... and cops love to stroll by your car to see if you have one visible.

I have one, and I cannot even tell you how many times it has saved me on hurried drives to work in the morning.

It works pretty good from a far distance....I won it on a bet from my brother lol..It's a whistler.

I got stopped a few times because my headlight went out, and every single cop said something about it..either, "We have buttons to defeat those, you know." or, "Those don't work."

Yeah...right.

The thing works wonderfully lol

Even though I don't speed on a regular basis, and never more than 10 over if I do, I still feel akward when driving in a car without it.

i think the key to finding one that works, is getting one that detects laser. that's what most cops use now anyway.

i remember hearing about a place in canada that sells radar detector detector detector detectors .. like 10x, because it started out as a radar detector, then cops got radar detector detectors, then the fuzz-buster community came out with radar detector detector detectors, etc.....come to think about it it was a thread on here a long time ago.

I've read articles about it in Car and Driver, I think. Basically, the radar detectors emit low level radiation that the police units can detect. The radar detector manufacturers then came out with units that didn't emit anything, supposedly. Then the police started using laser units which are harder to detect than the older radar guns.
