Does your radar detector help you a lot?

 

I owned one for only a couple of weeks and then took it back and that was 14years ago. I've never had a speeding ticket ever so I guess I never needed one.

 

I swear by them. Saved my butt more times than I can count. The one I have right now is a RockyMountain Radar one but am looking at getting a Passport one.

i almost never see cops, but it seems like whenever i do see a cop that thing never beeps, and that the thing beeps a lot when i don't see a cop. it's an old one i got for free and had to hardwire it to get it to work .. but i don't see how it would break. i don't know if it really does it's job well or not .. it says its 3band, wideband so it should work. i think it's stupid.

 

mine has helped me a couple times. not against laser though. i got a ticket driving to my vacation spot one summer because of those laser guns.

i actually just figured out an awesome feature with my radar detector. i can program it to turn sound off below a certain rpm. doesnt matter how loud road noise or the stereo is either. its probably an old feature, but i just figured it out and its pretty cool.

yeah i had the same issue with mine. it was quite pricey though...i got sick of the thing beeping at me all the time and getting paranoid for no reason. i got rid of it and now when i speed i use my eyes as my radar dector. tongue.gif my rule to avoid speeding tickets is pay attention, don't drive in the left hand lane unelss there is someone in front of you and watch behind you. you play it safe and you're good to go. wink1.gif

 

yeah, your eyes are the best. however, you when you go under those overpasses you're pretty much screwed if you are speeding. i figured out that the bastards sit on top of those bridges with like 3 cops, one lasers u and one of the other ones speeds down the on ramp and catches u. once u go under the bridge, you're screwed. and you can't see em until your passed it.

i think mine doesn't detect laser either, that's probably the problem with it. i'd like to get an expensive one that actually works good, lol.

 

yup...exactly. cops suck...they shouldn't do radar, they should be more productive and go get some of the bad guys...not people going 65 in a 55. more than likely the speed limit should be 65 anyway. ninja.gif

 

I don't have radar detector. Speed limit in Ukraine is 60 kph (37.5 mph) in cities, but you can drive 75 kph (47 mph) and no one cop will stop you.

If there is a car going faster I'm following that car. It's the best way, cause cops will stop only first car.

Cause sometimes cops use they guns (not laser) only when you are too close. They know your speed and you don't have time to lower your speed.
