I'm also working on a carputer setup (have a radio surround molded in a liliput touchscreen so far, thats it though, its a slow work in progress..lol) anyway, i was wondering what you are going to do for a hard drive? I was thinking of having a primary drive built in the case that is small just for the OS and stuff, and then having my secondary drive me like a 200gb external USB where I can easily add/replace movies and stuff by just bringing it inside and plugging it into my computer. But I hadn't decided how/where to mount it yet..what are your plans? Also, isn't it going to be hard to type with a keyboard in the visor? lol..I bought one of those cheapy usb rubber foldable/everything-proof ones, it lights up too, kinda cool. should fit easily in the glovebox. also, are you mounting a mini-itx in a case and putting it behind the dash? or are you going with a trunk setup? are you finding that there is room behind the dash for a mini itx system?

damn..those pics are just beautiful.

ok. ill try to answer everything zoned.

- im booting xp off of a cf card. the mII10k motherboard has a additional cf slot underneath the pcmia card in the rear, but you cant boot the os off the cf card in there without some MAJOR bios changes/switching to linux. i am not that good with software junk, so i will be booting off a cf card with an ide adapter. the first case i had was a boxy travla c138 case, which number one wouldnt fit where i wanted it to, and number two would keep the cf card enclosed in the case. so i bought a c137 case. it is a lot shorter and also has a neat adapter that lets you move the cf booting card to a slot in the case. im using a 2 gig cf card for booting. it will contain the os and all applications. i have a 100g laptop hdd that will have all my movies and songs on it.

- there is no way i would be able to fit the stuff behind my dash with as much as i already have back there, and also with what i want to do with the pc. a case small enough to fit back there wouldnt have enough room for the opus 120w ps im going to put in it, along with other things. my case will be under my passenger seat, and the other things like the wintv usb, xm module, and the iso OBDII serial converter will be under the driver seat. ive done some test fitting with the case, and it was a really tight fit without the carpet in. so i busted out the sledge hammer and flattened the floorboard out a little bit...lol. took that crappy stock deadening off in that area, pounded it flat(for the most part), and layed two layers of edead down over it. i also did some trimming to the metal underneath the seat. it should fit perfect now. just enough to be under the seat without getting messed up if the seat moves, but enough so that a theif would have to take the seat off to get it out(if they get passed my ultra alarm...lol).

-it might be a little harder to type on the keyboard in the visor, but the coolness factor of having a keyboard hidden in the visor makes it worth it. wink1.gif

i could have, but this one is small and glows blue. wink1.gif i couldnt find a bluetooth one that would ahve done that.

yeah redz, i have a spoiler. stock rd2 right now. to get that clip out you have to use like two little screwdrivers and get at it both from the inside and outside. you can unclip 3 from the outside, but you need to unclip the last one that the edge of the door is blocking with a long screwdriver from the inside. take the that little boot off, and you will see 4 clips on it holding it in.

Dude, want to hide your antenna? I found the perfect spot, I mean absolute.

My XM radio antenna is there and I have perfect reception.

Take off the plastic covering the hatch, like you would to get to the spoiler bolts. You'll see a big tab there that the RD's without a spoiler would have their 3rd Brake light mounted.

Put it there.

The best part is you can't see it at all. It's behind the glass and hidden by that black stuff on the glass. Can't see it at all, from inside or out.
