then you'll laugh at how easy it is.

i remember you saying something about cutting the box the speakers came in and making a speaker plate outta that. did u just cut it and then strengthen it with fiberglass? would just sticking some resin on it make it strong enough?

well i bought a sheet of 1/4" mdf a while back for the car. and i had it at a friends house. so he need a set of 6x9's and i had the 6.5's that needed to go in. so we took the mdf and made them. we set the 6x9's on the mdf and traced arround it. Marked the screw holes. then we cut the 6x9 wood plate out and drilled the holes. then took the box that the 6.5's came in. Traced out the exact circle from the box it came in. then cut that out sanded arround the edges and the mounting holes. then sprayed the wood flat black. and mounted the speaker. now if you want to add tweeters back there the just the a backing strap and mount it that way.

after my long absence, i figured i'd give lil update since i started the thread:

I got the infinity kappas, 63.5 for front and 693.5 for back. the sound quality is absolutely amazing. i was looking at them on sounddomain, but my dad found them cheaper elsewhere.

of course, then my boyfriend had to go get himself an amp and 2 12's to put in his trunk...darn him for bumping more than i do...wink1.gif

anywho, thanks for the suggestions all

He's your boyfriend.. guilt him into adding amps and subs to your car! At the least.. buy the parts and see if you can't use him to install them.

Will Hyundai replace blown stock speakers? For 10 years?

I would say get a set of rockford fosgate 6.5 in the door and a set of 6x9 in the back and they fit perfect. Witha nice HX2 12" in the back it will sound sweet.
