Zoned, are you doing this installation by yourself?

I guess nobody knows?
I've even talked to Shadohh via AIM, he says he never had that problem and he doesn't know what would cause it...but everyone who's done it on an RD that I've talked to has said they have had this same problem.
Shadohh did it on an RD2 though, what about the rest of you guys that have done the swap? RD1/RD2?

nope, everyone says there's no explanation for it ..
i think i'm going to invest in an aftermarket cruise system and hook that up to my OEM switches.

I just know you gotta bridge a couple fat wires in that one plug. There all skinny except for 2, and those when you bridge the only two fatter wires so your car doesn't think its in Park. Other than that, I have no damn clue what you are talking about, I think there may be some wires at the ECU that need to be bridges as well? I did the wires as well, so my setup was unique to most other swaps people have done. I think you'll be fine to just rip out the old stuff and toss in the new. Just get that sh!t done quick.

With an aftermarket cruise system you lose the ability to accel/decel though don't you..

yes, unless you get really crafty with some schematics and figure out how. you would probably have to use relays for the two little switch wires, and hope that your a/m cruise system will even accelerate and decelerate.

Nobody has yet to answer my question though..

how does the cruise read the engine's rpm and/or speed?

is there a feature with 5spd's where if the clutch is depressed the cruise disengages? could that have something to do with the problem?

MOD EDIT: quote removed

the cruise control sys is controlled by the ecu... there is a wire running from the ecu harnass to the switches in the stalk to the vacuum motor in the engine bay.... when u hit the cruise it creates vacuum which pulls the tb open and holds it there

i lost cruise when i did my swap, but no big deal.. my right foot is my cruise control

MOD EDIT: do NOT qoute post above yours

Yes, BUT the cruise also has to read the engine's speed and/or RPM's.

Haven't you ever felt your cruise accelerate you as your going up a hill? Or the engine brake when coming down a hill? If it ONLY worked by keeping the throttle butterfly open X amount of the way, then it would not have the ability to accel/decelerate.

For all 5spd owners with cruise control, if you press the clutch pedal will the cruise control disengage? If so, how does THAT work? that would be another thing that swapped people are missing out on..

I cannot understand what swapping transmissions could possibly do to the cruise control......everyone who has done the swap has lost their cruise, WHY!?

I want my cruise.
