Default Scoupe GTR to go BETA

Hey hey all, well my Scoupe Turbo has destroyed its motor, it was simple. I was asking too much from the lil 1.5 (conrod snapped and smashed threw the block)

eventually i do intend on boosting the 2.0l @ 1 bar to get 200kw instead of boost a 1.5l 1.8 bar.

So what am i in for what all do i need?

which mountings needs to change? i will be re-using my scoupe turbo gearbox as it was recently rebuilt.

Where Mountings need to change? dont worry about the ecu as im running a complete standalone managment system.

You'll probably only have to change mount #I but you may want to slot the holes on the other mounts to shift everything towards the driver's side for belt clearance. At least that's what you have to do on an Accent.

Why go Beta? Isn't the Scoupe based on the Excel platform? The DSM 4G63 is 2.0L and should drop right in.

Both. It was only called the 4G63 in the Mitsu, but the identical motor was used in the '92-'95 Elantra. The benefit to using the one out of a Mitsu is that it's internals are already ready for turbocharging. You can always buy a cam cover from a Hyundai Elantra and bolt that on the motor for stealth.

I know that motor its the j1 elantra. But the gearbox sits on the otherside compared to the accent and scoupe. And the accent gearbox bell houseing does not sit flush against that motor. It night work but the release bearing will have to be changed. I want to use his my scoupe gearbox and shafts. I know the 4g63t is one hell off a engine. But im literaly looking for just a engine swop. And when i turbo the lump i will use the soeulfull racing piston and rod combo

IIRC the scoupe was actually based on the accent platform

The mounts look similar if not identical to an Accent's.

You're in South Africa, correct? Did they sell the Mitsu EVO there? The 4G63 out of the EVO is the correct direction.

Nope... The Scoupe ended production in '95, the first year of the Accent. It's based on the Excel.

From what i understand. The scoupe is based on the execl. How ever i have fitted a accent motor to a scoupe before and all the mounts were perfect. Mitsi evos never came to my country but they can be bought from the importers. Prior to the evo6 the motor would drop into time j1 elantra. The evo6 and after has the gearbox facing the correct direction and would be much easier to swop into a accent or tiburon. And i can get that motor from the importers but that means i will need a new gearbox and shafts and probably custom make gear linkages. I just wanna do a beta swop. If i can boost a stock scoupe to 27OHP. Im sure a tib motor can do the same. The only reason why i am doing a swop is cos i cant afford forged pistons and rods. And there is no point in only doing forged pistons because conrods break too. Im swoping my low comp alpha for a stock beta
