I respect your opinion and beliefs, but it always grates on me when such things are spoken as facts. You can have all the faith you want, they're not facts. But stating them as such really is what grates people with different beliefs than you the wrong way. Especially when you have two people who through faith believe in two sets of differing, sometimes conflicting, facts.
If you all (all people of all faiths) would just chill out, there wouldn't be nearly as many conflicts. "I think..." should precede most of what you say about the way things are. Because like it or not, you don't know. You're just convinced of a certain set of "facts".

I respect your opinion and beliefs, but it always grates on me when such things are spoken as facts. You can have all the lack of faith you want, you're still wrong. But stating lack of faith as the sensible position really is what grates people with different beliefs than you the wrong way. You see? It works both ways. I am offended at your taking offense, and will SUE! Chilling out is the major factor needed to get a little more peace 'round here. A little more tolerance of variance by the "tolerant" and a little more not blowing up the infidel by people whose made-up religions call for it.
Here's your favorite line of the thread: The difference is, my facts are true and everybody else believes a LIE!!!!!1!

I have to disagree with you on this point. Most wars and slaughters in the worlds history were propagated by the religious leaders of that time. The Spanish Inquisition, The Crusades, both examples where people were slaughtered in the name of God. There are many others I could list, but lets fast forward to relevant times. People protesting at the funeral of soldiers because they were either gay or supported gay rights in the military, killings of employees at abortion clinics, priests molesting children and the Vatican covering it up, I could go on and on. I would say it is the "believers" that need to chill out.
In fact I would say it's the "believers" that should do a little homework and realize that their holy bible is a plagiarized piece of work that is based on older religions, that are based off the oldest belief that the Sun was the creator and giver of life. You are free to believe how you want, but at least do your homework and realize that your entire belief system is stolen mythology reworded and packaged to control the masses. Always question your beliefs, question authority, and make sure what you stand for is not a fraud. Don't give me this "faith" crap either, those are just words used to keep people from becoming educated and have you blindly follow what ever they say.

This.
Though, I think that non-believers should take the same advice, research and question, and repeat often, to ensure that they are educated and solid in what they stand for, even if its nothing at all.

This type of thread is about as prone to a mutual agreement as the 9mm vs 45 debate, but I'll go another round . . .
The people that oppress others "under color of" christianity . . . ALL of them . . . have got it wrong, and will have some 'serious 'splainin' to do' at judgement day. Done by the book, christianity is about as peaceable a religion as any other. As for being copied, the other side of that argument is that the devil knew what was going to happen just as well as God, as he's also a creature not limited by to the constraints of time. Planting fake religions that look like the real thing coming down the pike in a few centuries is just good business sense, when business is getting people to question the Genuine Article.

Yes, I need my reset button hit now and again as well, we should definitely do this.
LOL... so true. But that's what this forum is for, good ole fashioned debate and discussion. I never had any hope of changing peoples minds or beliefs, but it is fun to discuss.
