I have this same issue with my car. I have done everything from Chemtool, Cleaned Air Filter, changed fuel filter, etc. Nothing has worked so far. 97Tibby, are you serious?? If so, I will be super happy!
well, the coolant temp sensor tells the ecu how much fuel to deliever, if the coolant temp sees the engine too cold it literaly dumps fuel into the engine to try and warm it up, if it sees the engine hot, it reduces the amount of fuel to deliever. My problem was that it thought the engine was cold so i was running extremely rich and the spark plugs i had in there werent hot enough plugs to ignite the amount of fuel, it was basicly fouling out my plugs. the sputtering is more fuel igniting in one cylinder then another and the amount of fuel that the spark plug ignites is different on each revolution! if you have any other questions, or require further explantion, please feel free to message me. hope this helps.
OK I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TODAY (AFTER FINDING OUT I STILL HAD A WARRANTY) TURNS OUT IT WAS SOMETHING WITH/IN THE COILPAK, THE GUY ON THE PHONE WASNT VERY CLEAR, BUT HE TOLD ME HE FIXED THE PROBLEM AND I DIDNT CARE. I APPRECIATE EVERYONES HELP,
THANKS EVERYBODY.
