That's because the oil plug sits 1/2" above the bottom of the pan. It's impossible to drain it all.


When not running, the oil line goes to about 1" from the top of the pan. It sits pretty high. But when running, you're gonna lose a lot of oil in the pan because it will be in the block and mostly in the head. If I were to guess, I would say that the running oil line would sit halfway down the sump, near the baffles.

^^ yeah, thats what I was saying, I was just trying to give a possible reason that something like that would have been thought. At first glance and without reading up in the owners manual on fluid amounts then it could seem like it held an extra 1/2 quart.
