If your downshifting to over 3k, I would definitely rev-match. Its not as necessary if your @ 35 miles per hour in fourth, and want to downshift to third for more power, putting you near 2800RPM. That puts no more wear on the clutch than you revving to 1300 and slipping the clutch to start moving, if not less.

well. the only way to get good at matching the revs is to practice, practice, practice... and I would not worry about blowing anything up, the fuel cut will kick in before you get near a destructive engine speed. I take my Tib to redline several times a day.. 104,000 miles and running strong since new.

Bah, I didnt wan't him rev matching when hes shifting from 3rd @ 1700 to 2nd as that would probably confuse the hell outta him tongue.gif
I don't see the reason why you guys don't push the car every once in a while. Its worse for your car since the insides of the IM and TB are getting clogged with oil most likely, your probably having carbon buildup all over the place, and your injectors probably don't like it either. Run it to 6000 every once in a while, there is no harm in it. Redline on cars are conservative. The Tib's redline is not as conservative as others, but you could probably rev the stock engine to 6700-6900 safely without overworking things.

I don't think it's a good idea to do it all the time, but when you're getting onto he highway it's a good excuse to beat up on it. Call me a ricer but I love windy on-ramps that lead to the highway. Getting up to 100kph(60mph) as fast as I can is a blast. G/f doesn't like it much, but meh, what can you do. wink1.gif
Letting the engine wind out is a good thing once and a while, I try to do it at least once a day if I do a lot of city driving. It'll help keep exhaust ports free from carbon build up. It won't prevent it, but it'll help that little bit.
