With my ecu, I get up to 7000rpm, no problems after 60 000km of frequent abuse. Stock tib ecu cuts at 6500-6700rpm I think.

Thats pretty much near the limit of what you can probably safely rev it too. The way the Beta is built it wasn't really meant to rev high.

QUOTE (hamhead)
If the Tib went much over 6500 it would go kaboom... be glad it doesn't rev to 7000-7500, or Kit wouldn't have a car... well he'd have a body but no engine.

thats not true, our motors are capabile of reaching 8,000 rpms and can be driving there. its just that rpm is past the point of engine wear point. meaning it wears excessivly at that speed, and it will go from 200,000mls motors to 20,000 motors!

Actually since we have dual over head cam engines, they ARE made to rev high!

Sorry to resurrect this topic, but this was a very interesting read!

On a cold morning sometimes when I'm in a rush, I get up and go. Just start the car, and sometimes press on the gas a little hard. Sometimes even redline it! This is where I should go back to the "autos bouncing off rev limiter" thread.

Sometimes my Tib will rev up to close to 7,000 RPMs. Quite scary. It's sometimes not at WOT either.. more like 3/4 throttle. Something I did notice though is that it only bounces off the rev limiter in 1st. Never 2nd, 3rd, 4th...hehe, no 5th.=P (auto)

But yeah, I should take it easy on flooring it at will. It's not only a waste of gas, but seems like it taxes the engine life as well. It's tempting, seeing that I redline it myriad times a day.

Once I have more low-end, mid range torque, being at WOT won't be as demanding, I hope.
