Oh, ok. Thanks.

Oh yeah, one more question.

How much would just a beta 2 head gasket raise compression?

I measured the head gasket that came off my 1.8L 97 tib (it has 1.8/2.0) stamped right on it so I would assume it is the same gasket that is on my 98 2.0L. The thickness at the cylinder area was .029". So if anyone has a beta 2 head gasket, a measurement would be appreciated. Just measure where the cylinder is sealed off (from the inside of the bore, not the outside edge of the gasket if you know what I mean). Then we can see if the beta 2 head gasket really is thinner and thus would raise compression.

And also, the gasket from my beta 1 1.8L is 3 layers.

Thanks.

Anyone know where I could get a good quality head gasket set? From the dealer it is 215 US. Seems kind of expensive to me but I gotta do what I gotta do so...

Thanks a lot faith. I need to know what car's head gasket I should be asking for (that is, if faith turns up a measurement of under .029") from the dealership.

Remember faith, the gasket I measured was used for 130,000 miles so hopefully you are measuring a used gasket as well.

Thanks again.
