Yes, but according to some of the folks that have done the tranny swap, the axles still work fine. It's not

Mang notice difference is between 1.8 and 2.0! Not between M/T and A/T wink1.gif

maybe that's why I couldn't fit 1.8 axle in my 2.0 Tibby?

Please take pics of the other end of the axle.. and if you can inside so we can see the differential.

I will when I get it out. I know what to look for. LOL

I did. I don't have a 1.8 so that section doesn't matter.

The others are very minor in length differences. Other folks here HAVE USED OTHER AXLES.

Just so you know, when I did my manual swap, I used my automatic axels. That's been over a year ago and still no problems.

its not the trannsmission type that is the issue, its the engine size. apparently its not much of an issue though.

No problem, Napa has a brand new axle, with the clip and a new castle nut, for 70 bucks. With Faith's discount,t hat's like 60 after taxes.

Friggin schweet.

Hopefully I can get the old one off tomorrow. if not, they said they'd accept the axle WITH THE HUB ATTACHED> LOL

Damn, that's good to know. It's a lot cheaper than I had thought, I figured around $150 for a new one.

They have a 65 dollar core charge.

Anyways, anything I need to know about swapping here? Do I need to grease that bastage up before I slide it in? lmao.gif

Any other tips?

Nut Splitter <--- Click me!

Just crank it down until the nut splits.. easy as pie! When you deal with older cars, these things can be a real knucklesaver! And no, they do not hurt the threads if used correctly.

Awesome man, wonder where I can get one locally. That would save a LOT of time and effort.
