Well if you're like me beta swap with accent starter, it won't loosen. Starter must be too weak. I'll see if i can find an impact wrench/gun.

I can't edit to avoid another reply. I got an impact gun, no go. WTF!! I guess its back together until next weekend and go to the hobby shop and see what they have. owned.gif

Alex, Thanks for this guide. I finally have the pulley installed. This is really cool stuff. I can really feel it at the start. Now I can take off with second gear, no hassle. smile.gif

I didn't remove the front right wheel and this was my fourth time removing this pulley so it easily came off.

just got my underdrive pulley done along with the p/s pulley. i couldn't get the water pump pulley off, does anyone recommend methods of how to do this easily?

also, the recommended belt sizes will not work on 1999 tibs. on the "inside belt"/idle belt you need to buy a belt one inch shorter than OEM. on the "outside"/water pump" belt, you can just use the belt from the "inside"/idle because the length is almost perfect. Plus its free.

By the looks of the pictures i have seen that RD2's have and additional pulley or tensioner other than my year. this is why the 31.5/32 and 33 inch belt sizes where way to long for me, giving me about 1.5-2" of slack.

TIP: to get the inside belt on, i recommend mounting the belt to the upper pulley and the tensioner first. then mount it on the UNMOUNTED crank pulley. then simply torque down the pulley to spec. and you good. doing this process eliminates the need to go over the outside ring on the crank pulley.

hope this helped.

All of those questions are answered here and elsewhere. I even posted a video of how to easily remove those bolts for the water pump pulley.

And belt sizes, part numbers, everything.

RedZ, where's that video mate? Searched a bit but couldn't find it.

Started on replacing my water pump last night but had to stop as 2 of the 4 water pump pulley bolts simply refused to come off. I was using the rubber-covered handle of a hammer, wedged in between the pulley & something else to stop it from spinning. Thought I had one of the last two bolts at one stage as the spanner finally started to turn: turns out the spanner had cracked & wasn't actually unscrewing the bolt but was instead nicely rounding it off for me. Not sure how I'm going to get it off now. Hammer & chisel?

Took me about 2 minutes of searching.

Advanced Search.

RED ZMAN and Pulley.

Second page.

Anyways, maybe we should move that to the DIY section eh?

Cheers for that. I think I searched "Water Pump" & "easily remove bolts" & stuff like that, lol.

I finally got around to doing this today. The key-way on my pulley was about a sixteenth of an inch to shallow so I had to ct it properly, other than that it was an eerily smooth install.

yeah, it wasn't a big deal, just a minute or two with a file, but I figured I would mention it in case a noob ran into that and didn't realize what was wrong.
