Okay, i know i'm bringing this thread back, but i got a serious problem about unscrewing the pulley's bolt... My engine is currently out on a crane (it's another engine i'm gonna throw in my tib since the stock engine died), and what is annoying about that, is the fact it turns the clutch and the pulley whenever i try to unscrew... even while putting a big piece of steel between the rusty flywheel and the head, we couldn't do a thing (we were 2 on it...) : so i got some questions :

- Are french people too weak ?
- Can a 400Nm impact wrench do the job ?
- Did anyone here did this job out of the engine bay ?

An impact gun with enough oomph might surprise you with how well it removes bolts without spinning whatever it is the bolts are holding together. Note that air impact guns like HIGH pressures to get the job done. They work b/c they hammer quickly on fasteners, without applying much spinning action over time. You are possibly too weak, but more likely you are too slow wink1.gif

'round here, people can go to a local auto parts store and rent tools for a refundable deposit. If there's nothing like that over there, you might try asking if you can borrow one from a handyman or maybe ask around at local mechanic shops. I borrowed one (twice) from my employer.

Anyway, i managed to pull the pulley out by hand, same for the cam gear and the clutch... Now i gotta face the super flywheel screws (first time i see that kind of screw)... gotta buy some stuff to take them out LOL !

did this after i got out of class tonight, and wow it really did make a difference. my friends were really not sure about the "blipping" the starter, but it only took one good one to get it off.
