My local automotive shop would like one. It is a shop which supports soldiers and lets us use the equipment for $3.50/hour. They would like to know if a usb multi would work on EVERY car.

I have never personally tried it with a OBD-I vehicle, so I'm not very sure about compatibility with it. The OBD-I connector is different from OBD-II, but I'm thinking of getting a connector adapter to check and see.

I know that my scantool works with OBD-1.5 vehicles (OBD-I flatform with an OBD-II connector). I have personally tried it with a 94 Cavalier and a 95 Neon which are OBD-1.5 vehicles

Find a solution that will work for every car ever made please. They're interesed

A OBD-II reader is great, obd 1.5 is good as well, but they service all types of vehicles. If you can find something that will translate OBD they could purchase both units and call it good.

There's nothing that will work with every car ever man, once you get back to a certain point you won't be reading it. My old Nissan would only work with a proprietary reader from Nissan. Older then that you won't be able to read them at all.

Caj,

That's a very good point! Yeah most of the car companies came out with their own proprietory diagnosis system before the OBD standard was implimented. This all changed when the OBD-II era (97 and up) came about; This became the new universal standard for diagnosis and emissions (although some car companies add their own flavour on top of it)

Update!!!

This is how the new Multi Protocol Scantool - Serial looks like now... (click on the pic to enlarge)

It is more lighter, smaller and less clutter(y). The USB and the OBD connector(s) has been directly integrated into the unit instead of having 2 seperate cables.

Thanks,
