The .45 mile semi banked oval will entertain the Short Track Divisions (Modifieds, Street Stock & Super Trucks).
The .25 mile flat oval will host the exciting Legends division and the Mini Stock and Slug Bugs Stock division in terrific wheel to wheel action.

The 36 foot wide road course incorporates technical and sweeping turns with two 70 foot wide straights, and over twenty feet of elevation changes. This course will prove to be one of the most exciting and challenging road courses in the country. A large portion of it is visible from the grandstands, introducing a unique type of spectator event not previously seen in this area. Well, it's about 20 minutes drive wise, but the Rail Runner commuter train goes from there to Los Lunas too, so there's no issue if you wanna fly down.

Ok, I know it would be stupid because of how far I have to drive, but I'd run the hell out of that track.

Just a couple of questions for the track idea:

What are their safety regulations? Helmets, 4 point harness, ect.
In the worst case scenario, would there be a place to fix a busted car?
Where do I sign? fing02.gif

Standard track rules are to have a(n)
approved helmet (Motorcycle ones are fine, RA rated even better). Try to avoid using those ones with tinted windscreens.
battery hold down
mechanically sound car (no leaks, flapping body panels, loose parts, etc.)
Seatbelts (4/5 pt restraints shouldn't be required).
Empty car
Tread on your tires
Windows down
Rollbar (only if convertable)

You don't NEED to drive the hell out of your car to have fun on a track like that. That half mile banked oval will be fun at simply 60mph. (Of course, it'd be funner faster). And learning the course line and playing with different ways to enter and exit turns, gears to be in, braking points, etc is part of the fun (from my POV). Not neccessarily driving balls to the wall all day until your car breaks.

If you break down there's not gonna be a mechanic on staff to fix you up. They probably just have a gas station there with high octane and normal and MAYBE a place to mount and balance tires.

I'm so down to split a track day with ya guys, date dependant.

I think it would be a blast to drive that track. I'll be damned if I'm going balls to the wall anyways, and I LIVE here. As for a place to fix it, of course, this isn't the 3rd world. LOL I should have a 3 car garage by that time, and between me and RR, we've got plenty of tools I think.

^ That's what I was referring to when I said a place to fix it.

^^lol I meant I would spend the whole day driving on it. Learning the track, practicing techniques, and getting advise. I wouldn't be going fast, just driving on it until the tread on my tires was gone.

About the date, I'm liking the idea of early August that way classes wouldn't have started and maybe some more people can come. However, if no one likes early August then my vote is to put it around the 7th-8th of September.

So early August through early september. Okay, we'll look at those dates in a poll.

I'd think Labor Day would be perfect.

We didn't go 4 wheeling last time, ya wimp.

LOL

I offroad in my car regularly, that's how you learn how to have fun in the corners.

You weren't complaining at the time... LOL

Anyways, yes, that particular road is off limits for group drives.
